Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love

Chapter 9

Chapter 9 She Is Mine
In the car...
Corynn was plucking up the courage to explain what just happened when Jason unexpectedly spoke first. “It’s okay, Corynn. You
don’t have to explain. I did that willingly.”
Corynn subconsciously clenched her fists, feeling that she was being so unfair to Jason.
“Oh, come on,” Jason continued with a lighthearted chuckle. As though he read her mind, he added, “Don’t feel guilty, Corynn.
I’m more than happy to play along.”
Corynn sighed. She genuinely couldn’t understand what Jason saw in her, the girl who was constantly the subject of rumors and
gossip.
Whenever she tried to persuade Jason to get to know other women, he’d always stop her with a reassuring
smile.
The rest of the car ride was quiet. As they neared Corynn’s home, Jason suddenly broke the silence. “Corynn, did you run into
him at the restaurant? Is that why you were gone for so long?”
Corynn stiffened, wondering how he put two and two together.
Jason smiled knowingly and pointed at his earlobe. “You have a hickey right there.”
Corynn turned as red as a tomato and looked down, wanting fiercely to defend herself, but upon peering at Jason’s expression,
she decided against giving him false hope.

She eventually nodded in resigation.
Jason’s smile faded slightly. “Corynn, Elliot isn’t right for you. You can be with anyone–just not him.”
“I know.”
Jason reached out, intending to tuck a stray hair behind her ear again, but this time, Corynn avoided his touch and hurriedly got
out of the car.

Jason’s smile became a bit strained, but he quietly withdrew his hand without comment. “Get some rest, Corynn.”
“You too,” Corynn replied in kind. “And be careful on the way home, okay?”
When the car pulled out of her sight, Corynn breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone was trying to create opportunities for Jason and
her to get closer, but she really wasn’t interested in him.
Jason was a wonderful man who deserved someone better than her.
Honestly, as much as she didn’t want to disappoint him, feelings couldn’t be forced. She felt sincere gratitude toward Jason, but
nothing more.

Chapter 9 She Is Mine
Corynn turned around and headed for the front door, but just as she was unlocking it, a hand suddenly held
her arm.

She looked up in surprise, but the next second, her expression darkened. “What the hell are you doing here?”
Elliot didn’t reply, he just stared at her intently. The memory of their earlier encounter tugged painfully at his heart–so much so
that, after dropping Amanda off, he had ended up here, almost by instinct.
He was painfully aware that a future with Corynn was impossible. During the day, he’d distract himself with work, but at night, he
nearly went crazy from the loneliness.
Once again, instead of answering her question, he questioned her instead. “Who was that man?” he asked in a gruff tone.
“Why do you care, Elliot? How many times do I have to remind you that we’re over? That we’re done? We’re adults, Elliot. You’re
the one who said we should part on good terms, remember? Besides, you have a fiancee. Why can’t I have a boyfriend?”

Elliot didn’t say anything; he simply turned to leave.
Corynn felt relieved, thinking he wouldn’t bother her again after today’s events.
She closed the door and set her bag down in the living room. Just as she was about to go upstairs, there was a knock on the
door.
Assuming it was her parents, she opened the door without thinking, only to find Elliot standing there. Her brows furrowed irritably.
“Corynn, we need to talk,” the man said.
“There’s nothing to talk about—”
Her words were cut off as his cool lips claimed hers, taking her by surprise. She froze and fell into a daze, unable to push him
away immediately.
The sound of something crashing in the background pulled her back to her senses.
Eyes flashing fiercely, Corynn shoved Elliot away as hard as she could. The next moment, a firm hand grabbed Elliot’s shoulder
and pulled him backward, and then a fist connected with Elliot’s face, causing the latter to spit out blood.
Elliot looked up, cold–faced, to see an angry Jason glaring at him murderously.
A contemptuous smile soon spread across Elliot’s face. “Corynn is mine.”
