Chapter 8
Chapter 8 Holding His
Hand
Meeting, or even just seeing Elliot, wasn’t something that Corynn wanted. Their relationship which ended three years ago had
been so hurtful, she was determined not to go through the same pain again.
After regaining her composure, she took in a deep breath and returned to the private room.
“What took you so long?” Erick asked when he saw her.
Corynn rubbed her tummy and replied, “My stomach was troubling me a little.”
As her face was already quite flushed due to the alcohol she had consumed, no one found it really strange when they saw the
unusual red color on her face.
Extending a cup of water to her, Jason said, “Have some honey water, Corynn. It will help in calming your stomach.”
With a soft smile on her face, Corynn nodded and accepted the honey water.
Since they met each other, Jason had always been nice to her. He wasn’t one to care about her past and had been a strong
pillar by her side for the past three years. After confessing his feelings to her once, he never tried to pressure her.
But then, Corynn had made up her mind never to be a burden to him. Her past was far from commendable, and due to the
complications from her miscarriage three years ago, there was a high possibility that she would never be able to conceive again.
As a son of one of the most prestigious families in Orelens, Jason had to get a woman who would be able to provide him with an
heir. To Corynn, that woman wasn’t her.
Once they were all done eating, Erick looked up and suggested, “Jason, perhaps you should take Corynn home? Shirley and I
want to go for a walk.”
“That won’t be necessary!”
“No problem!”
Corynn and Jason replied respectively at the same time. Glancing at Corynn, Jason smiled at her in his usual gentle manner.
Feeling uncomfortable, Corynn looked away and quickly said, “You’ve drank some alcohol. It isn’t advisable for
you to drive.”
“It’s okay. I’ve summoned a designated driver,” Jason replied. *

When she heard this, Corynn chose not to argue any further.
Exchanging knowing and satisfied smiles, Shirley and Erick didn’t say anything. They had purposefully created. numerous
opportunities for Corynn and Jason to spend some time together by themselves, but Corynn always acted indifferent, never
giving Jason a chance.
They would really love to have Jason as a son–in–law and they felt that it just wasn’t right for Corynn to be unmarried at twenty–
six years of age, something that was the fault of Elliot.
That man was the source of all the suffering that their daughter had to endure these past years!
After saying their goodbyes to both Shirley and Erick, Jason and Corynn headed downstairs together. As they exited, Corynn laid
her eyes upon Elliot once again.
Pretending not to see him, Corynn quickly looked away. At that moment, Jason stepped forward, extended his hand toward her
cheek, and gently tucked her windblown hair behind her ear.
Corynn initially wanted to avoid Jason’s touch, but when she glanced at Elliot and saw that his eyes were fixated on her, she let
Jason perform his affectionate gesture.
Seeing this, Elliot’s face instantly darkened.
Smiling tenderly at Jason, Corynn suddenly took his hand and placed it against her cheek.
Surprised, Jason paused for a moment, then smiled knowingly as he softly caressed her cheeks and said, “Come on, let’s be on
our way.”
Interlocking her fingers with him, Corynn smiled back and they both headed to the car.
True to his gentlemanly nature, Jason opened the door for her and watched her get into the car, he then glanced at Elliot.
Though it wasn’t overt, Elliot could feel the hostility emanating from Jason’s gaze.
As the car drove away, Elliot didn’t take his eyes off it for a single second until it disappeared.
How on earth could Corynn move on from him so quickly? Was the love she had for him nothing but a lie? @
What the hell was she doing with another man? @
At that moment, Amanda and a few friends walked up to his car, and she got into it while waving goodbye at
them.
The moment she saw Elliot, she realized that all wasn’t well, and asked, “Is everything okay, Elliot?”
Looking away, Elliot shrugged and replied, “Yes, I’m just thinking about some business matters.”
Amanda frowned and said, “Then I should discuss this with my father so that you wouldn’t worry much.”
