Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love

Chapter 10

Chapter 10 What The Hell’s Wrong With You
“What the hell’s wrong with you, Elliot?” Corynn shoved Elliot away and rushed to Jason without thinking. All the while, she eyed
Elliot warily, afraid he might strike.
Jason pulled her behind him protectively.
Seeing this, Elliot’s expression darkened. Corynn had never looked at him like that before, which was painful enough in itself, but
her instinct to protect Jason felt like a stab to his heart.
“Are you worried I’ll hurt him?” he sneered.
“You’d better not lay a finger on him,” Corynn growled back.
Elliot wanted to point out that Jason had hit him first, but he swallowed his words. Instead, he allowed a mocking smile to tug at
his lips as he asked smugly, “Corynn, haven’t you ever told him you were once mine?”
“The key word is ‘once‘,” Jason butted in, putting his arm out in front of Corynn, shielding her from Elliot. He eyed the latter coldly
and continued, “Corynn moved on a long time ago. So, I hope you’ll stop pestering my fiancee.”
Elliot’s fleeting satisfaction vanished, replaced by a cold, hostile glare.
Tension crackled in the air as Corynn stood next to Jason, glaring up at Elliot.
“You have a fiancee, so why can’t I? Elliot, you and I ended years ago. Now, you’re not only causing us trouble, but you’re also

making a fool out of yourself. It’s pathetic, really.”
Elliot found it laughable. Corynn dared to accuse him of causing trouble, when it was the man standing beside her that had
thrown the first punch. “You think I’m causing trouble?” he asked incredulously.
“Who else? I already made it clear that I don’t want you. Your persistence is only creating unnecessary problems for us!”
Huh, now she claimed that he was creating “unnecessary problems“?
The way Jason and Corynn stood by each other’s side, protecting each other so fiercely, made Elliot feel like an outsider.
Jason’s hostile glare only added insult to injury.

He had anticipated Jason’s hostility.
But Corynn’s reaction was like a stab at his heart.
This was the last thing he wanted to see.

Chapter 10 What The Hell’s Wrong With You
Elliot took a step towards Corynn, but the latter watched him warily, as though she was looking at a monster. Feeling defeated,
he let out a cold laugh and stormed off. a

This time, Corynn only relaxed after Elliot’s car was out of sight, but she was still reeling from the events of
tonight.
Feeling uneasy, she asked Jason, “Why’d you come back?”
Jason didn’t answer. He trotted back to his car and pulled out a gift bag from the trunk. “You’re starting your new job tomorrow,
so I had a suit made for you, but forgot to give it to you earlier.”
Corynn was momentarily stunned. She took the bag, and upon peering at the clothes inside, a smile tugged at her lips. “Thanks
so much, Jason.”
Jason patted her head, glancing briefly in the direction of Elliot’s retreating car. He knew that Corynn couldn’t break her habit of
expressing gratitude to him, so he didn’t press the issue. “Go on and get some rest. You’ll want to wake up bright–eyed and
bushy–tailed tomorrow.”
“Alright, drive safely.”
Now that she was finally alone, Corynn finally exhaled in relief.

On her very first day back in the country, she had already encountered Elliot twice. It seemed like future troubles were inevitable.
After washing up and changing into pajamas, Corynn plopped onto her bed, contemplating the day’s events. If Amanda found
out about what happened, she definitely wouldn’t let Corynn go.
Corynn couldn’t muster any positive feelings for Amanda, haunted by the suspicion that Amanda had been involved in her baby’s
loss.
She also found it ironic–how could Elliot think she’d still want to be with him just because she once loved him? Didn’t he know
that a lot of things could have changed in the three years they were apart, including her feelings for him?
