Chapter 11
Chapter 11 When Will We
Get Married
The following day...
Corynn and Erick went to the office together. Because Erick had informed his employees in advance, the company was bustling
from excitement, curious to see who would be their new vice president.
“Corynn, this is your office,” Erick announced with a flourish as he swung the door open.
Corynn walked in, finding herself in a sleek, modern space that exuded a clean and efficient vibe. There was even a lush green
plant sitting on the desk, which added a touch of life to the room.
“Dad, I love it!”
“Good!” Erick beamed at her. “Good luck on your first day! I have a lot of faith in you.”
Corynn quickly got to work. That very morning, she attended a board meeting with Erick wherein they decided to gradually turn
over some responsibilities to her, allowing her to get familiar with things before taking over fully.
When Corynn returned to her office, she found a bouquet of roses sitting conspicuously on her desk.
She asked around and found out that a delivery man had dropped them off, but no one knew who had sent them.
Piqued by curiosity, she fished out the card nestled among the roses, her eyes narrowing at the familiar handwriting.
The next moment, her phone buzzed; it was a message from an unknown number.
It read, “Did you receive the flowers? Do you like them?”
flowers out and ordered security to block any deliveries from Elliot.
When she finally settled down at her desk, Corynn let out a long sigh, exasperated by Elliot’s persistence.
But she couldn’t afford to dwell. Pushing those messy feelings to the back of her head, she opened her laptop and immersed
herself in her work.
Elliot stared at his phone, waiting expectantly for a response that never came. When it finally dawned on him that Corynn wasn’t
going to reply, he dejectedly put his phone away.
When he looked up, he saw Amanda standing in the doorway, holding a lunchbox.
“What brings you here?” he asked in surprise.

Chapter 11 When Will We Get Married
“I arrived earlier, but you were still in a meeting, so I figured I’d wait until your lunch break. Oh, and I brought lunch!” Smiling
gently, Amanda strode in and set the food on the table. “I brought all your favorites!”
Elliot spared a brief glance at her and then nodded slightly. “Thanks.”
He picked up his fork and absentmindedly picked at the food, but his mind was elsewhere. He was busy reminiscing the days
Corynn used to cook for him in the kitchen and the way she used to look at him with
those expectant, doe–like eyes.
Memories blended with reality for a split second until he blinked and saw only Amanda in front of him again. “Mm, it’s good.”
Elliot paused, clearly resisting the urge to grimace. Amanda, seeing through his worries, quickly reassured him, “Elliot, this fork
hasn’t been used yet.”
“I know, it’s just...” Elliot faltered for a moment, then put his fork down. “Amanda, you don’t need to do these trivial things
yourself.”
Amanda pouted. “Elliot, I’m your fiancee. I may not be able to help with big things, but I want to be able to do the little things, like
bringing you lunch. Most importantly, I want to be with you.”
She slipped her arm into Elliot’s arm, causing the latter to stiffen.
“I’m sorry, but I’m so busy with work.”
“That’s okay. Just looking at you is enough to make me happy.” Amanda cupped her face in her hands, her eyes full of
unabashed love. “Elliot, I can’t wait for us to get married. You can focus on your work, and I’ll take care of you at home.”
She smiled, counting off her fingers. “Then we’ll have two children–one boy and one girl, of course. The boy will look like you,
and the girl will look like me.”
She could’ve gone on and on about how hopeful she was for the future, but Elliot’s silence prompted her to get straight to the
point. “Elliot, when will we get married?”
They had been engaged for three years now, and apart from holding hands, Elliot had rejected her attempts to get closer,
claiming that he wanted to wait until they were married.
At first, she was touched, thinking that Elliot was restraining himself out of respect for her.
But after yesterday, she had her doubts. Despite her being in the car, Elliot’s eyes had been on another woman. When she saw
who it was, she understood immediately.
Elliot still hadn’t gotten over that blasted woman-
Corynn!
