Chapter 2466

Chapter 2466
The man approached with a smile, "Sophia, don't you recognize an old classmate? It's me, Hugo!"
It took Sophia a moment before it clicked, "Hugo!"
Hugo had been in the same class as Robin. They'd met during a charity event back in the day and after Hugo quickly graduated,
they lost touch, which is why Sophia didn't recognize him at first.
The last time Hugo came up in conversation was during the New Year's Eve party. Zoey had spilled the beans, claiming that
Robin had taken all the credit for Hugo's work on the project back during that charity event.
And now, here was Hugo, in J City of all places.
Hugo looked Sophia over, "You're just as stunning as ever!"
"Thanks!" Sophia chuckled, asking, "So, you're in J City now?"
"No," Hugo replied with a hearty laugh. "I'm working over in H City. Came down to see Robin for some business. He's the most
capable among us. I had to swallow my pride to ask for his help."
Sophia was taken aback, eyeing him suspiciously, "You're here for Robin?"

"Yeah, Robin's always been good to us classmates. He's usually up for helping out!" Seeing Sophia's puzzled expression, Hugo
inquired, "What's up?"
"Don't you resent Robin?" Sophia shrugged.
"Why would I resent Robin?" Hugo looked genuinely puzzled.
Sophia continued, "Didn't he steal your glory at that charity event, taking credit for your project plan? Aren't you mad at him for
that?"
"What?" Hugo looked astonished, a thoughtful expression crossing his face as if he was dredging up the past, then he chuckled
awkwardly, "Sophia, who told you that?"
"Zoey," Sophia replied. "Everyone was involved in that charity event back then."

"So that's the misunderstanding!" Hugo laughed, a touch of embarrassment in his voice. "I owe Robin an apology, then."
"Misunderstanding?" Sophia frowned.
"Yeah, I've got no reason to hide it now, after all these years," Hugo settled onto the couch, pouring Sophia a cup of coffee, and
said earnestly, "Robin didn't steal anything from me. He pulled two all-nighters to come up with that event plan all by himself.
Everyone in our dorm knew about it. I hardly lifted a finger, just followed his directions."
Sophia was skeptical, "Then why did you drop out of the event?"

Hugo gave an embarrassed chuckle, "This is even more shameful. Robin had everything set for the event, and I was supposed
to get sponsorships. Then, a brand offered me $200 to sneak in some advertising for them. My head wasn't screwed on right,
and I took it."
Hugo clasped his hands together, a bitter smile on his face, "There's a saying about being poor and making poor choices. That
was me."
"But it didn't take long for others to find out. I had no choice but to ask Robin for help."
"Knowing my family was poor, my dad disabled, and my mom sewing day in and day out to pay for my schooling, Robin didn't
want me to get expelled. He took the blame upon himself."
Hugo's voice choked up, "After that, Robin donated the money to a school for underprivileged kids and used the situation to
remind me to live uprightly, not to stray even a step."
Sophia was stunned, "Is that true?"
"Absolutely!" Hugo said with conviction. "Robin has been my savior. Without him, I'd have been ruined."
Sophia was at a loss for words.
Hugo added, "Zoey was always jealous of Robin, always picking fights with him
back in school. And even after all these years, he's still slandering Robin. He's just no good. Don't believe a word he says!"
"And Robin's been donating to students in need and schools for the

underprivileged for years. How could he be greedy?"
Sophia was aware of Robin's philanthropy, having previously thought it was out of guilt. It turned out, he'd always been true to his
heart.
She whispered, "I've wronged him."
