Chapter 2465
Chapter 2465
Sophia showed her ID to the young woman.
After a quick glance, the woman offered a sheepish smile and started to share her vision for the ring she desired. "I want
something big, a diamond that screams luxury, something really classy!"
The man frowned upon seeing the seven-carat diamond she fancied, "Honey, don't you think that's a bit too much? Your hands
are petite; a smaller stone might suit you better!"
This comment immediately soured the woman's mood, "Are you saying you don't want to spend the money? You promised you'd
get me whatever I wanted before we came here!"
"It's just a suggestion, babe," the man hurried to appease her.
The woman scoffed, "Don't act like I don't know better. You've always been wary, thinking I'm after your money. If that's how you
feel, maybe we shouldn't even bother getting married!"
hesitate to give up?"
"Don't bring up your divorce again. You've never been honest about how much you paid her!"
Their argument escalated in front of Sophia.
Sophia, who had just returned from Mr. Waldo's pearl wedding anniversary, deeply moved by the celebration, was now utterly
speechless witnessing this couple's dispute.
Standing up, she suggested, "Maybe you two should talk this over. I'll just head to the restroom!"
The man, evidently embarrassed, offered a strained smile, "Of course, Sophia, take your time!"
As Sophia stood up and walked out, closing the door behind her, she caught the girl's voice, "Why were you staring at her? Do
you think she's prettier than me?"
The man hushed her, but whatever he said next was lost as Sophia closed the door firmly behind her.
Shaking her head in disbelief, Sophia was about to head to the restroom when her phone buzzed. A smile spread across her
face as she saw the caller ID.
"No, I stepped out to meet a client," Sophia replied as she walked.
"Did the client make any unreasonable demands?" Jason's tone was sharp.
"Not exactly unreasonable, just... they can't seem to agree on anything," Sophia chuckled, her voice tinged with resignation.
It was clear from the start that this relationship was fraught with mistrust, and at this point, Sophia was no longer interested in
designing their ring.
"Jason," she called out softly.
"Yes?" His voice was deep and reassuring.
"I just... feel really lucky, suddenly," Sophia said out of the blue, her cheeks flushing as she quickly added, "Never mind, it's
nothing. You don't need to pick me up; I haven't been drinking and can drive myself home."
After a brief pause, Jason's voice warmed, "Then head home and wait for me." "Okay!"
After hanging up, Sophia made her way to the restroom.
When she came out, she received a text from the man she had left arguing, "Sophia, can you wait a bit longer? I need to discuss
further with my girlfriend." "Sure," Sophia texted back, settling down in the restaurant's lounge area to wait. As a professional
designer, she knew better than to let personal feelings influence her work or client choices. Convincing herself to be patient, she
played a game on her phone and took another call, noticing half an hour had passed. She was about to ask a waiter for a coffee
when she heard a surprised voice behind her, "Sophia?"
Turning around, Sophia saw a man in a suit, not immediately recognizing him, "Yes? Can I help you?"
