Chapter 651
Her memory was fragmented, sprinkled with missing pieces. She vaguely remembered a text from Odette. It was a cryptic message promising a
surprise if she came over right away. But when she did, Odette was nowhere in sight. Then came the dizzying wave of nausea that pulled her into a
deep sleep.
The room she woke up in was not the one she’d entered that afternoon. Who had moved her?
A creeping unease seeped into her heart. She swiftly grabbed her bag and made a beeline for the door.
Outside the hotel, she dialed Ramsey.
“Violette, Odette lost her phone. If someone calls or texts you asking for money, don’t lend it!” Ramsey warned as he answered.
“Oh... when did she lose her phone?” Violette felt a chill run down her spine.
“Around three in the afternoon.” Ramsey replied, “You didn’t get any weird messages, did you?”
Violette inhaled sharply. “Is Odette with you? I need to speak with her.”
“Sure, she’s upstairs. I’ll go fetch her.”
“Violette! Oh my god! My phone was stolen! The thief is just horrible! I’ve reported it to the police, but they say it’s hard to retrieve. I’ve spent the
entire afternoon dealing with this. There’s so much personal information in my phone...” Odette ranted.
“Your phone is with me.” Violette’s voice was icy. “Someone used your phone to lure me to the Caesar’s Palace.”
Odette said, “What?! Why would a thief lure you to a hotel? Violette, are you okay? Don’t scare me!”
“I’m okay.” Violette’s head was still spinning. “I didn’t see anyone after I arrived at the hotel. I think I was drugged and fell asleep. Besides the slight
dizziness, I don’t feel anything else.”
“Violette, you need to go to the hospital and get checked out! This thief’s actions are too strange!”
“Yes, don’t worry for now. I’m heading to the hospital. Also, don’t tell anyone about this. I don’t want to worry Elijah.” Violette assured.
“Alright, I won’t tell.” Odette was still worried. “Which hospital are you going to? I’ll come find you.”
“There’s a clinic nearby.”
“I’ll be right there.”
...
Brandon, having spent a sleepless night, walked straight into Elijah’s office upon arriving at work.
“Elijah, I won’t be paying for Violette on your behalf anymore.” Brandon negotiated, standing before his desk. “She can earn her own money. She
doesn’t need you to provide for her.”
Elijah looked up, puzzled. “What’s gotten into you?”
“I’m just saying. You don’t have too much money left. No need to go broke over a girlfriend.” Brandon’s cold demeanor matched his icy tone.
“She is the mother of my child, so it’s only right that I support her.” Elijah sensed something was off with Brandon and pressed further, “What’s really
going on?”
“If you insist on knowing, I’ll lay it out for you!” Brandon’s emotions spiraled out of control. “I despise Violette. She’s not worth your sacrifice! So what if
she’s pregnant? Any woman can bear a child. I’ve seen men pander to women, but never as pitifully as you! The more you indulge her, the less she
respects you! Do you find this amusing?”
Brandon felt a rush of relief as he voiced his thoughts. Across the desk, Elijah’s face turned icy cold. The pen he held dropped onto the desk with a
loud thud. He stormed out from behind his desk, grabbing Brandon by the collar. “Say that again!”
“I won’t pay a single cent for Violette on your behalf! Either find a new CFO or let Violette go!” Brandon swallowed hard, enunciating each word,
“Once she gives birth, dump her!”
“Brandon, don’t fucking push me! I can’t let Violette go!”
“If you don’t let her go, you’re a damn fool!” Brandon yelled, “That woman will ruin you!”
