Chapter 652
By the time Melinda got the call and hurried over, the fight had already ended, because there was Joey, standing in the middle, keeping the two of
them apart.
As the peacemaker, Joey had suffered collateral damage - his glasses were shattered and his face was injured.
“Brandon, come out!” Melinda’s voice was icy as she pulled Brandon away.
When Brandon was gone, Joey turned to Elijah. The fight had been a one-sided beating from Elijah to Brandon, with Brandon never throwing a punch
back. This led Joey to the only possible conclusion - Brandon had upset Elijah. Otherwise, Elijah would never have raised his hand against Brandon.
They had been good friends for many years, never once showing each other anything but camaraderie, let alone resorting to violence.
“Boss, what happened?” Joey winced as he asked, “Did Brandon betray you or something?”
Elijah clenched his fists, sinking into his chair. “Get out!” His head was throbbing and he had no idea what had occurred between Brandon and
Once Joey had left, he headed towards Brandon and Melinda.
“All that I said to you last night, was it for nothing!?” Melinda scolded Brandon, “Are you trying to make this public? How does this help Elijah? I’m so
disappointed in you!”
Brandon was studying his bruised face on his phone screen, indifferent to Melinda’s reprimands.
“I just had to fight with him, or I won’t feel right,” Brandon sounded slightly hurt. “Don’t worry. I didn’t bring up last night.”
Melinda let out a sigh of relief. “Your face is swollen. Go treat those bruises.”
“Oh, aren’t you coming with me?” Brandon sounded disappointed.
“You deserve it. I’m not accompanying you.” After her words, Melinda turned and walked towards Elijah’s office.
Brandon sighed and headed for the elevator.
Joey quickly caught up with him. Joey also had a bruised face, so he decided to accompany him to treat the injuries. The atmosphere in the elevator
was somewhat awkward.
“Brandon, what’s going on? I tried asking the boss, but he wouldn’t say a word.” Joey ventured, “Can’t you guys solve this without coming to blows?
It’s damaging to your friendship.”
Brandon didn’t feel like talking to Joey. Joey was now, in a way, on Violette’s side.
As the elevator reached the ground floor, Brandon’s phone rang. Taking out his phone, he saw it was Violette calling. He had called her last night but
her phone was off. She was only returning his call now.
He answered the call, and Violette’s lazy voice came through, “Brandon, you called me last night but I didn’t pick up. You needed something?”
“I saw a woman at the Caesar’s Palace who looked a lot like you last night, so I called to confirm.” Brandon’s tone was so cold and it was devoid of
any emotion. Joey was surprised at Brandon’s cold demeanor towards Violette.
Violette said, “I was at that hotel yesterday indeed.”
Just when she thought Brandon was going to ask her why she was at the hotel, Brandon simply said, “Never mind.” Then he hung up the phone.
Joey was puzzled. “Brandon, you had a fight with the boss. You’re not taking it out on Violette, are you?”
“You’ve got it all wrong. But don’t ask me why I fought with Elijah because of Violette,” Brandon’s voice was frosty. “Just don’t ask.”
Joey said, “Alright, I won’t ask.”
Even though he had no idea what had happened, from Brandon’s reaction, it was clear that something serious had taken place.
