He drank with James and a few friends for a while and then they each went off to look for their lady partners for some private times. He was on his

noodles. “This afternoon when the cleaner came, I let her clear all the dishes.”
He looked at the dry noodles and calmly said, “That’s fine.”
Mia’s expression relaxed and turned to a smile. Her manner was fresh, innocent, and beautiful! William was lost in his thoughts and Mia was already
in the kitchen.
A few minutes later, she served a large bowl to the table. It was a bowl of hot noodles with egg.
Without a thought, William walked over to the table, picked up the chopsticks, and said to her, “Let’s eat together.” Mia shook her head, blushed, and
said, “No, I only cooked a bowl.”
“Get a bowl!” He brashly ordered her and Mia didn’t dare to say anything and went to take a small bowl.
William dished some noodles into her bowl until Mia signaled it was enough before he stopped. Both of them ate quietly with an awkward silence. Mia
looked up to peek at him as she felt that the manner which he ate was very strange.
What should she say?
“How is your wife?” She wanted to praise Sophia but she said these instead.
William raised his head and stopped chewing. She wasn’t sure what he was thinking when he glared into her eyes. Her heart skipped a beat and
wasn’t sure if she misspoke and quickly said, “I meant well and nothing else.”
He slammed the chopsticks on the table indicating his fury. William’s face tense up and his expression was cold and his looks piercing. He grabbed
her wrists and twisted them to breaking point. He said coldly and emotionally, “Remember this, stay away from Sophia!”
“I... will.” She looked at his cold expression and swallowed all her explanations and answered helplessly.

William flung her hands away and walked towards the door. He opened the door and warned her, “If you dare to hurt Sophia, I let you have a fate
worst then death!”
Bang!
He left and the room was quiet, so quiet that she could only hear her heart beating. Mia grabbed the chopsticks and looked at her red wrists,
stupefied. He said not to hurt Sophia and what does he regard her as?
It’s tough being locked up. Every day it was waiting from sunrise to sunset. Mia felt that she was in a prison, except that this prison she could wear a
gold-trimmed outer nightgown.

beautiful.
She was lively and beautiful, though she forgets to attend to him due to her work, William didn’t mind it at all. He felt that he really liked her happy go
lucky manner.
The secretary gave him a few documents and praised Mia, “Miss Charles is a quick learner. What will normally take a week to learn she could do it
within a day. She is detailed and thorough, it is fantastic.”
The fast-moving pen stopped, his eyes turned to the newly positioned assistant’s desk. Mia was smiling as she typed out a document. Her fingers
were dancing on the keyboard and her long lashes flickered. It was like two dancing butterflies. Her eyes were fixated on the monitor concentrating on
her work as if nothing around her can distract her.
The secretary walked out and William walked over to behind her.
“William dear.” A sweet voice drifted in and both of them were surprised and turned around. Mia saw Sophia at the same time as she saw William
standing behind her.

All kinds of unpleasant memories flooded back and her face flushed in red with awkwardness. She didn't know what to do except to sit in place.
William rushed over to Sophia and reached over to her waist, “Sophia, why are you here? Why don’t you stay at home when you are unwell?”
Outwardly he was blaming but inwardly he was concerned. Sophia remained in his embrace and gently said, “William dear, did I interrupt with your
work? It was so boring at home and that’s why I asked John to bring me here.”
John stood awkwardly behind and stood at attention towards William, “I’m sorry Director.” He saw that Sophia glared at him as a warning and his
body moved slightly. Sophia used her life to threaten him to bring her to the office and didn’t allow him to call ahead to inform William. When John
saw Mia, he knew that he had made a mistake.
Sophia’s eyes fell onto Mia and turned towards William, “William dear, didn’t you say that Miss Charles has gone home? How come...”
“...” William looked at her calmly and said nonchalantly, as if she was a stranger, “Oh, she needed a job, so...”
Mia was hurt by William’s sudden coldness. She looked up and saw Sophia’s weak look and hurriedly nodded and said, “Oh, the situation is like that.
I came to look for a job and Mr. Brown allowed me to work at his office. Mr. Brown said that this arrangement would make it more convenient for the

The awkwardness was short-lived. Sophia’s eyes smiled like two beautiful crescents and laughed, “William dear, you are so thoughtful.” After saying

this she top toed and planted a kiss onto William’s cheek.
William lowered his head and kissed her forehead. They were so loving and Mia could only watch silently. No wonder William kept reminding her not
to have any thoughts about replacing Sophia. He already knew that time will breed affection and she will become jealous of Sophia.
As she was thinking, Sophia’s voice came to her ears, “This is good but Mia studied Medicine. Isn’t this way below her capability?”
“Yes, you have a point. Then what do you think is a better arrangement?”
William didn’t look at her and treated her as invisible. He only had eyes for Sophia. Although they were discussing about her, they didn’t bother to ask
for her opinion.
She couldn’t leave and could only sit and listen to their discussion.
“How about letting her take care of me. Isn’t she in the field of internal medicine and medical care? She can be my personal nurse. Mia, what do you
think?” She turned and her curly hair waved and she was so cute and beautiful. She presented her beautiful side for William.

She turned around and looked at the monitor not knowing what to type. She was just doing her work enthusiastically a moment ago and now
everything was pointless and meaningless. Her hands were on the keyboard and can’t continue typing. She just sat there in a daze.
William came back a few minutes later. His tenderness was already gone and became a cold expression. His piercing eyes looked directly and
intensely at Mia and glared at her for three minutes. He was examining her, his frown deepened and his eyes darkened.
He walked over in large strides and grabbed her wrists violently until she yelled out in pain. “You...” She could only say one word and William
clenched his teeth and said with each word threateningly, “Remember this, do not harm Sophia, do not try anything on her body, otherwise I will let
you die a terrible death!”
She closed her eyes in resignation to her fate. These words were said each time they had sex. It was as familiar as a daily greeting. She nodded. Her
conscience was clear as she doesn’t have any evil intentions nor had done anything wrong. She, Mia, will never do anything to harm Sophia or
anyone else!
