Chapter 25 What The Hell Are You Doing!
Corynn turned around, looked at the direction that the voice had come from, and saw a man smiling at her.
“Why are you giving up just like that, huh? The fact that Liam and Aron are refusing to help you doesn’t mean that I also don’t
want to,” the man said and chuckled lightly, his pot belly heaving from side to side like it might fall off.
Hearing this, Corynn’s eyes brightened up with hope and she asked, “Do you want to help me?”
Liam and Aron exchanged knowing glance, but said nothing. They wanted to intervene, but then considering that Harper Group
was due to file for bankruptcy, they decided not to.
Besides, if Corynn should choose to be with this man, she would fare much better in the future.
The man lowered his eyes and stared intently at Corynn’s chest for a moment. He then looked up at her and replied, “Yes, I wish
to help you. But, I have one condition.”
Corynn felt highly irritated under the man’s wanton gaze and goosebumps appeared on her skin.
These men ought to be ashamed of themselves, for they were old enough to be her father.
However, she decided not to lash out and asked as cooly as she could, “What do you want me to do?” The man smiled and
replied, “Well, all you have to do is agree to become my lover and I’ll help you out.” Liam cleared his throat to grab Corynn’s
attention and added, “Taking into account the bad state that Harper Group is in, what you ought to be focused on, Corynn, is how
to secure your future. Don’t waste the opportunity that Jakob just presented to you. He is a big shot who will ensure that you live
“Whatever you want, just name it and I’ll give it to you. There’s no need for you to go down with your sinking ship,” Jokob said
with a chuckle.
Shaking her head, Corynn took a step back and said, “Thanks for your offer, but no.”
With that, she turned around, bit her lip in frustration, and hurried out of the private room, seemingly feeling defeated.
Her eyes were fixated on the floor as she walked and she failed to notice someone walking up to her until it was too late.
Abruptly, she was grabbed and yanked into a nearby room.
Stunned, Corynn gasped and was disoriented for a moment. Before she could regain herself, the person who had dragged her
into the room slammed the door and pinned her against the wall.
Before she could look at who the person was, a familiar scent enveloped her, and the identity of the person instantly appeared in
her mind.

Struggling to free herself, she hissed, “Elliot! Let go of me in this instance! Are you out of your mind?!”
“Corynn, why on earth didn’t you come to me for help? Why did you go to them instead?” Elliot asked in a stressed voice as his
eyes bore deep into hers. He then swallowed and gazed at her low–cut dress and
meticulously applied makeup.
just how much of a crook those old men were and he was scared to death that they would have done something to her before he
got here.
Worst of them all was Jakob, a shameless man whose womanizing acts have ruined countless lives.
This was the first time that Corynn had gone to meet those men, so she was most certainly ignorant of how evil they were.
However, as Elliot was aware, he couldn’t take any chances and had rushed over.
With a loud chuckle, Corynn shook her head and asked, “Do you think I wish to have the day of my fall moved to a closer date?”
She knew very well that if Elliot was to help her in any way, Amanda would get more furious. Under no circumstances must she
seek Elliot’s help.
Elliot frowned and said frustratingly, “You ought to know that I can handle Amanda. You should let me...”
“I don’t need your help! Now, let go of me before things get out of hand,” Corynn interrupted icily.
Hearing such cold words from the woman that occupied his thoughts day and night hurt Elliot like he had been stabbed. Before
she could say any more harsh words, he leaned in and planted his lips firmly on hers.
For a moment, Corynn was stunned, then she regained herself and shoved Elliot away.
Elliot stumbled back and looked up to see Corynn furiously wiping her lips like they had been contaminated by a deadly virus.
The look of disgust and contempt on her face wounded him deeply.
Corynn not only wanted to have nothing to do with him, she also hated his touch!
Gone were the days, when they had been so close.
“Do you take me as a nobody, Elliot? Or why else would you choose to demean me over and over again?” Corynn asked in a
trembling and angry voice as she snatched up her bag, which had fallen on the floor when Elliot pulled her in and stormed out.
“I will never demean you, Corynn!” Elliot called after her.
