Richest Mogul

Chapter 2007

Chapter 2007

Manfred hadn't been at Atkinson Residence for the past few days, and no one knew his whereabouts.

Sterling brushed off the thought. He doubted Manfred's capacity for such action.

Years of manipulation had reduced Manfred to a shell of a man, utterly incapable of carrying out something like Edson's assassination, especially given the constant security surrounding him.

An unseen force appeared to be at work in Everholm, and the thought of this left Sterling uneasy. He prided himself on knowing everything that happened in

Everholm, yet this was beyond his grasp.

With a furrowed brow, he turned and left.

The two maids, despite their disdain for Vivian, had no choice but to obey Sterling's orders. They hadn't been fortunate enough to earn his favor.

Once the maids left to fetch her meal, Vivian sprang into action. She rushed to the door, cracked it open, and scanned the hallway.

Two men stood guard just down the corridor with swords at their sides and sharp, disciplined stances. They were clearly trained fighters.

That explained the unlocked door.

The maids had left without worry, knowing the residence was as secure as a fortress.

Vivian was certain more guards lurked in the shadows. Escaping the sprawling Bowman Residence seemed impossible. But she refused to resign herself to this fate.

Her eyes darted around the room, searching for paper and pen. By a stroke of luck, she found both.

Snatching the pen, she quickly sketched a series of patterns on the paper. Each pattern was carefully folded and hidden where no one would easily notice.

Not long after, the maids returned with a tray of food, and on it was a plate of vegetables, a serving of roasted meat, and a steaming bowl of mashed potatoes.

"Quickly eat before it gets cold. Afterward, we'll take you to bathe. Tonight, you need to serve Mr. Bowman properly. Don't be as clueless as before. If you anger him again, your life will be over. Do you understand?"

One of the maids was slightly kinder than the other. Though she looked down on Vivian, she didn't want to see her die.

If Vivian angered Sterling, the maids would also suffer the consequences, which could cost them their lives.

Vivian didn't answer. She smiled instead. "Have you two served the Bowman family since childhood?"

"Yes, we were born into service here," one answered, her tone laced with pride.

Vivian's smile deepened. "That's nice."

Her talismans would work perfectly.

If the maids were new, they wouldn't have been affected by the residence's negative energy yet.

Atkinson Residence had plenty of

negative items, but Bowman

Residence had even more. It was practically a breeding ground for dark energy.

Her talismans were crafted specifically to counter that energy the stronger the negative energy attached to someone, the greater the effect.

"You'll be Mr. Bowman's mistress soon. Many would envy the life

you're about to have. There's nol

need for you to envy us," one of the maids added.

The two maids shook their heads, slightly dazed as they gazed at Vivian.

"I don't know why, but my head suddenly hurts."

"Mine too. It feels like my skull's being split apart."
