Chapter 1980
Chapter 1980
Skylar watched as Hadwin caught up to her. "Is there still something going on with your mom?"
It had been years since she had last seen Natalie, but the two of them had
practically been together every day over the past few days.
Today's gathering included Natalie and a few other friends.
Hadwin hesitated before asking, "Mrs. Martin, did Vivian go abroad?"
From what he knew of her, it didn't make sense. Her parents had been missing for years and had just returned. There was no
way she would suddenly choose to leave.
Besides, he had never heard her mention having close friends abroad. All her friends were either from college or the ones they
had grown up with.
Skylar glanced at Joe. No surprise-Hadwin was Austin and Natalie's son. His observation skills were sharp.
Of course, many of their close friends had noticed something was off about Vivian's sudden absence. But because they trusted
Skylar and Joe, they knew better than to ask questions.
"Yes, she went abroad," Joe said, picking up on Skylar's cue.
She'll decide when she's ready."
"Studying abroad? So there's no telling when she'll come back? And is it really safe for her to be alone in another country?"
Hadwin frowned.
The more he thought about it, the less sense it made. Even if Vivian insisted on leaving, she thought Skylar and Joe wouldn't
have let her go so easily.
The whole thing felt off. Skylar and Joe had finally returned, yet somehow, Vivian had disappeared.
Joe's expression darkened slightly at the mention of safety. "She has people protecting her. There's no need to worry. It's late.
You should head home."
"Let's go," Skylar said softly.
Hadwin still had many questions, but from the way Skylar and Joe looked, they weren't going to tell him the truth.
He needed to find out what really happened to Vivian.
Lost in thought, Hadwin got into his car.
Inside their car, Skylar and Joe's expressions turned serious.
"Do you think Hadwin likes Vivian? Before we left, he was always around her. And
if any guys at school got too close to her, he'd warn them off," Skylar mused.
too much of a flirt. She wouldn't stand a chance against him in a relationship.
"Honestly, have a better impression of Manfred, but unfortunately, that's not possible either. They're from two completely different
worlds. In the end, there's no way they could be together."
It wasn't just about being in a long-distance relationship. This was about two entirely different worlds.
And right now, they didn't even know where Vivian was. That made the distance between her and Manfred even greater.
Even if Manfred was someone worthy of a lifelong commitment, he and Vivian were never meant to be.
Skylar shook her head. "I don't think their story is going to end just like this. Maybe there's still a chance for them."
Joe raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised. "A chance?"
"You never know."
"Vivian is still young. Even if she comes back, she's not even 20 yet. There's no rush when it comes to relationships. I'd rather
have her stay with us for a few more years. If someone truly likes her, they can wait. If they can't, then they're not worth it."
Skylar couldn't help but laugh. Just moments ago, Joe had been speaking highly of Manfred, but now, in the blink of an eye, his
stance had completely changed.
Regardless of how things ended between Vivian and Manfred, she and Joe would always support Vivian's choices.
...
After some time investigating, Hadwin still couldn't find any trace of Vivian's supposed friend abroad.
The biggest issue was that he didn't even know which country she had gone to.
Strangely, no one seemed willing to talk about it.
Frustrated, he finally decided to ask Natalie.
