Chapter 1974
Chapter 1974
Manfred watched the scene unfold in front of him, his complexion slowly losing its color. But soon, he managed to put on a smile.
He couldn't experience his parents' love, but Vivian could, and he was content with that.
For a moment, it felt as though he was an outsider looking in. He couldn't quite catch the words spoken by the family of three.
He was lost in thought until the buzzing in his ears faded, and eventually, he was able to hear their conversation.
"Ah, I see now. No wonder you were able to find us," Skylar said with a tone of amazement.
She hadn't realized that the reason Vivian could come to this world and find them was because of Manfred.
Joe, who had been cautious of Manfred at first, now had a more favorable impression after hearing Vivian's description. He
turned to Manfred and said, "Thank you for taking such good care of Vivian."
Manfred stood up and immediately nodded respectfully toward Joe. "Vivian is my savior," he said earnestly.
Vivian quickly interjected, "I didn't do much. It was nothing."
They had helped each other. Their eyes met for a moment, but out of respect for the others present, they quickly turned their
Skylar and Joe exchanged a knowing glance. They could tell there was something more between Vivian and Manfred.
With the information they had now, it was almost certain that the two had feelings for each other. Manfred had even publicly
declared Vivian as his fiancée.
"I've ordered dinner to be prepared. Let's talk more when we sit down to eat," Skylar said, breaking the silence.
Manfred nodded in agreement.
After the initial excitement, Vivian noticed that Manfred's mood seemed a little lower.
But...
"Mr. Atkinson, would you mind taking a walk with me?" Joe asked.
Of course, Manfred couldn't refuse.
Though he longed to stay by Vivian's side and cherish every moment with her, he
knew that her father had something to discuss with him.
After Manfred and Joe left Willow Hall, Vivian finally withdrew her gaze.
"Vivian."
Skylar spoke again, "Bring me the copper mirror. Let me have a look at it."
Vivian quickly returned to her senses. "Ah, right. I almost forgot about the copper mirror."
She immediately began searching
through the bundle she had brought with her. As she rummaged, she spoke, "While you and Dad were away Grandma and all of
my uncle's had been trying to find a way to bring you back.
"And the fact that I could travel
ct that
across time to find you... well, only Uncle Harvey and Mr. Ziegler know about that time here works differently. What might have
passed as a few days for us there could have been years here..."
Skylar had never really thought about time until Vivian mentioned it.
After hearing Vivian's words, she realized the time discrepancy. She and Joe had been in this world for over seven years.
In those seven years, their appearances had barely changed, which had intrigued many people. They often attributed it to their
good skin care and maintenance.
But now, Skylar thought, perhaps it was because they truly didn't belong to this world, and their appearances had remained the
same as when they had crossed over. "Content"
"So, for you, it's only been a few months since you met Manfred. But for him, it's been five or six years?" Skylar asked.
Vivian's eyes flickered. "Yes. When I first met him, he looked even younger than I
did."
