Chapter 578
Chapter 571
Alfred did not ask Jude about this because he was worried that Jude might sugarcoat the truth to comfort him.
Asher glanced uncomfortably at Jude and hesitated to speak.
"It's alright. Tell me the truth-I'm prepared for it." Alfred remained calm and composed in contrast to Jude's grave expression.
"Dad..." Jude sighed, stepping in before Asher could respond. He explained, "Dr. Smith says the surgery has a thirty percent
success rate. Without surgery, you'd only have about six months under conservation treatment..."
Alfred paused for a moment, then collected himself and shook his head. "In that case, I won't put myself through surgery and
suffer!"
was clearly an impossible choice.
"That's enough. Asher, thank you for bringing Mr. Smith here. Jude, please write a check for one million dollars as their
consultation fee." Though he had decided against surgery, Alfred did not want the medical team to leave empty-handed.
"No..." While Paul's Culomian was not fluent, he understood enough to catch Alfred's meaning. He quickly refused, "I can't
accept payment when I couldn't cure you."
After Jude translated Paul's words, Alfred insisted, "Jude, find a way to make them accept the check."
Throughout his life, Alfred had always disliked being indebted to others.
"Got it." Jude nodded. He exchanged a meaningful glance with the family butler.
Asher, who missed this exchange, pressed on disappointedly. "Mr. Smith, isn't there any other option?"
Paul shook his head regretfully. "Surgery is the only solution for Mr. Kaufman's condition."
Being direct as most Westorians were, he told Asher plainly, "It's either surgery now or conservative treatment for six months."
Asher did not translate this last part for Alfred. Instead, he fell into silence. He had brought the medical team here hoping they
could cure Alfred, only to receive such disheartening news.
As everyone in the living room absorbed the disappointing reality, Yolanda suddenly spoke up. "Mr. Kaufman, I can cure your
condition."
"Stay out of this!" Asher snapped before the Kaufmans could respond. "Even Dr. Smith only gives a thirty percent chance. How
dare you make such claims?"
Both Jude and Alfred noticed Yolanda's choice of words. She claimed she could "cure" him instead of just "treating" his illness.
Jude's eyes lit up with hope. From what he knew of Yolanda, she would never make such a statement without absolute certainty.
Paul heard Yolanda's declaration and shook his head dismissively. Culomians were typically known for their modesty, and
Yolanda's bold claim struck him as distasteful.
But rather than rebuking her, Alfred asked curiously, "Young lady, how certain are you?"
Though he had noticed her choice of words too, he wanted to hear her answer directly.
"As I said, I can cure you," Yolanda replied with confidence.
