Chapter 577
Chapter 570
Recently, Asher had been experiencing hair loss for some reason. He developed a bald spot on the back of his head. Even
prescribed medications from the hospital were ineffective, so he had no choice but to shave his head and wear a wig.
He had specially ordered a high-quality wig from overseas that looked really natural. It looked so convincing that even his family
members could not tell the difference.
Though Asher did not really care about his appearance, he still had his pride. He would secretly visit the dermatologist while
wearing a face mask, and even his parents were unaware of his condition. The fact that this unassuming young woman had
seen right through it caught him off guard.
"Not only do I know about it, but I also know what's causing your hair loss." Tilting her head, Yolanda continued thoughtfully,
"Based on your symptoms, it's alopecia areata, isn't it?"
"Don't think I'll believe you can treat illnesses just because you make a few wild guesses!" Feeling uncomfortable under the
curious gazes of Jude, Alfred, and the Kaufman family's staff, Asher quickly changed the subject. "Mr. Smith, please examine Mr.
Kaufman first!"
He exchanged a few words with Paul in Westorian. Paul then instructed his assistants to set up their advanced medical
equipment. The assistants quickly sterilized the electrode pads with alcohol swabs, then lifted Alfred's shirt to place them around
his heart.
The living room fell silent except for the humming of the medical devices. Yolanda carefully observed the readings on the
equipment Paul was operating. Her expertise lay in traditional medicine, but her knowledge of modern medicine rivaled that of
these specialists.
She acknowledged Paul's reputation as a world-class doctor and his impeccable expertise. However, she doubted that he and
his team could cure Alfred's condition. Modern medicine relied heavily on surgery, but cardiac surgery would be extremely risky
given Alfred's old age.
Sure enough, Paul's furrowed brow remained even after he finished examining Alfred.
"How is it, Mr. Smith?" Asher asked the blonde doctor expectantly.
"I can treat Mr. Kaufman's condition. However..." Paul hesitated.
"That's wonderful! Grandpa Alfred, he says he can treat you!" Asher exclaimed, only hearing the first part.
"Mr. Smith, do you have any concerns?" Jude, who understood Westorian, could tell from Paul's expression that there was more
to come.
"Since it's cardiac surgery, there are significant risks," Paul admitted. "I can perform the operation, but the success rate is only
thirty percent."
"What?" Asher felt as if he had been doused with ice water. He stared at Paul in disbelief.
"Only thirty percent?" Jude's face clouded with worry upon hearing this. He certainly did not want his father to take such a risk.
"Can he proceed with conservative treatment and without surgery then?" Asher continued in Westorian.
"That's possible, but Mr. Kaufman's coronary artery blockage is severe. Even medication won't be able to clear it. With
conservative treatment, I'm afraid he wouldn't last more than six months."
Both Asher and Jude fell silent. A heavy atmosphere settled over the living room.
Though Alfred could not understand Westorian, he could tell from everyone's expressions that his condition must be serious.
After a moment of contemplation, he said, "Asher, be honest with me. How much time do I have left?"
