Chapter 572
Chapter 565
"It's here," Winnie replied, a little surprised. "It's in my backpack. Why do you ask?"
"Could you leave those personal items with me?" Yvonne asked hesitantly. She was frowning as if deep in thought.
"I'll deliver them to her myself the next time I see her."
"Of course!" Winnie said. She was delighted at the thought that Yvonne might want to reconcile with Yolanda in person.
Without hesitation, she retrieved the items Yvonne had asked her to deliver and placed them neatly on the bedside table.
"There you go. I'll leave them here."
Winnie, who was optimistic that tonight's events might resolve the lingering misunderstandings between Yvonne and Yolanda,
didn't think twice about returning the items.
After Winnie left the hospital room, Yvonne pushed herself up with difficulty and reached for the bottle on the bedside table.
She was still light-headed from the lingering effects of the drug Layla had slipped her, and a heavy discomfort weighed on her
chest.
Fixing her gaze on the seemingly harmless skincare bottle, Yvonne appeared lost in thought. After a long pause, she sighed and
gently set the bottle back on the table.
Her expression hardened moments later, and a fierce determination flashed in her eyes. Her hands clenched the bedsheet
tightly, as though she wanted to tear it apart.
"Layla," she murmured.
"This isn't over."
...
Early the next morning, Yolanda received a call from Jude.
"Ms. Henderson, I'm sorry I haven't been in touch. There were some family
matters I had to deal with," Jude began in an apologetic tone.
He had intended to ask Yolanda to treat his father, Alfred, but recent turmoil in the Kaufman family had delayed the matter.
"That's fine. I figured you had other priorities," Yolanda replied calmly.
Patients from the Kaufman family rarely acted with urgency, and Yolanda saw no reason to rush things either.
Families like the Kaufmans, with their complex ties to official circles, often had internal dynamics far beyond ordinary
comprehension. Yolanda preferred to stay out of such affairs and didn't ask any probing questions.
"Do you have time today, Ms. Henderson? I'd like to invite you to the Kaufman estate to examine my father."
"Sure. Send me the address," Yolanda said.
"There's no need for you to travel alone after I've asked for your help. I'll send someone to pick you up!" Jude offered.
"I'm currently staying at Cerulean Abode," Yolanda said.
Though her departure from the Henderson family wasn't a secret, it had mostly circulated within Diana's social circle, so Jude
might not have known.
As expected, there was a brief pause on Jude's end before he responded.
