Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress

Chapter 1755

Chapter 1755: And so, the hunt began.

Slater sat in the empty ward, rocking slightly as he remained deep in thought. People outside the ward-including the police-were already at work. After all, opening fire on hospital grounds, especially in the VIP ward, was bound to draw attention.

Just then, Mint walked into the room. The bed was empty, which no longer surprised her. Her eyes shifted to the chair where Slater sat.

She stepped in and gently closed the door behind her before approaching.

"The original guards those guys replaced were found in storage. Fortunately, they're alive, but heavily sedated. So, they wouldn't be able to talk. As for the guys you confronted, they aren't talking — yet," she casually reported, stopping a few steps away. "I already checked the CCTV, though. So, got a gist of what happened here."

This time, Slater looked up at her. "Was he abducted?"

Mint didn't answer immediately. She studied the look on his face. Even though she now worked closely with Hugo, working with Slater still felt like an entirely different experience. Both brothers were capable, but had an entirely different approach.

"No," she finally replied. "I don't believe he was abducted."

Slater's jaw tightened as he rose slowly from his seat. But just as he was about to walk past her, Mint grabbed his arm to stop him.

"Where are you going?" she asked, her grip firm. "Slater Bennet, we're already working on our plan. Don't ruin it."

Slater's eyes shifted back to her-sharp and unbending. "I'm going to look for him, Mint. If this is all part of his plan, I doubt he got himself stabbed for no reason. He's onto something, and I'm not going to sit around waiting to find out what. That guy's highly dangerous."

And he said that with the knowledge that Mint didn't have. That Jonathan was reborn and knew exactly what had happened.

Silence stretched between them as their eyes locked with each other. Her grip on his arm tightened, but he pulled free.

Without another word, Slater turned and continued toward the door.

Mint kept her eyes on his back. But just before he reached the door, her phone buzzed. She didn't take her eyes off him as she answered.

Her face quickly darkened.

"Slater," she called, still holding the phone to her ear.

He paused and looked over his shoulder.

"What?" His brows furrowed the moment he saw Mint's expression. "What is it, Mint?"

His heart throbbed with dread. He knew that look. Mint rarely wore it, but when she did, it was never good.

"Try to locate them through road CCTVs," she instructed the person on the line. "Also, send officers their way-but no sirens. We can't risk them crashing with her inside their car."

"Yes, boss."

The call ended, and Mint didn't hesitate. She strode past Slater, speaking as she walked.

"You don't need to find out what he's up to," she said under her breath. "Still confirming, but... Penny's been abducted."

Slater's breath caught the moment he heard those words. His eyes widened as he stared at her in disbelief.

No...

At the same time...

Atlas and Zoren sat in the backseat of the car in tense silence. Both were staring out their respective windows, even as their vehicle approached Prime Group's grounds. Up until now, they'd had no idea what was happening because somehow, no one had contacted them yet.

But that would soon change.

As they entered the underground parking...

"Hmm?" Atlas frowned, noticing several men scattered around the area. "Are those your people?"

Zoren was already staring. "No. They're Penny's."

"Those are Uncle Wild's," Angel said from the front passenger seat, his brows furrowing. "There's a problem. He only calls them in serious emergencies."

The three quickly scanned the lot. All of Penny's cars were still parked- something that brought them slight relief.

The moment their car stopped, Angel jumped out. Zoren and Atlas didn't wait for help; they opened their doors and stepped out on their own, heading toward the source of the commotion.

They didn't have to go far when Wild emerged from the elevator.

"Uncle Wild!" Angel called out, getting his attention.

Wild turned. His face darkened immediately. Even the slightest shift in his already

stiff expression sent a wave of unease through the three of them.

They stopped a few steps from him, eyes searching his face.

"Uncle Wild, what's going on?" Angel asked, his voice tightening as dread crept

in.

Wild looked between them, but didn't

answer right away. Instead, he turned O to his men and jerked his chin. They immediately jumped into their vehicles, engines revving and tires screeching. The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

Once they moved out, Wild faced the trio directly.

"Who?" Atlas and Zoren asked simultaneously. Their voices were ice. Their eyes

didn't blink.

"Shawn Lowie," Wild answered. "Mark and his team are already on them. I'm

sending backup now."

Atlas and Zoren stood frozen, processing the information. Angel, meanwhile, swallowed hard and clenched his fists.

"Sir, I'm going with them," Angel said, turning to the two men beside him.

Zoren finally blinked. Instead of responding, he pulled out his phone, speed-

dialed, and turned away.

"It's me," he said into the phone, his

voice low and sharp. "I need a m chopper for a manhunt. And dig into everything on Shawn Lowie-friends, family, all of them. Bring them in." The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

"Angel, you're coming with us," Atlas said firmly. He looked at Angel, then at Wild,

before following after Zoren.

As Atlas turned, his usual blank expression twisted-his eyes now burned with

intensity.

Angel gulped. It was the first time he'd seen those two this angry. They didn't scream, didn't explode—but their silence thundered louder than rage.

He turned to Wild, who gave him a brief nod. Angel returned it before jogging to

catch up with the others.

Without a word, Wild headed for the car waiting for him, and climbed in. "Let's

go."

And so, the hunt began.
