Chapter 1753: Man down
DING!
Penny blinked slowly as the elevator doors parted before her. With another
nudge behind her, she stepped forward without hesitation.
"There's a car at the end," Shawn instructed. "Go in there."
She didn't answer, but she still listened. Walking past a few parked cars and her own motorbike, Penny caught sight of an unfamiliar black sedan. As they approached it, she noticed someone already seated in the driver's seat. Shawn moved toward the backseat.
"Open it and get in," he said as she lingered by the door.
Penny still didn't respond but reached for the handle. Just as she opened the door, she paused and glanced over her shoulder.
"Shawn," she whispered, "you will regret this—and it won't be me who makes sure of that."
Shawn's jaw tightened, and he pressed the gun into her back. "Go in."
With a sharp huff, Penny placed her foot inside. But as she did, she suddenly felt a sting on the side of her neck. Her hand instinctively shot to the spot, her eyes widening as she turned to look back at him.
"You..." Her words faded, her vision doubling almost instantly. The rest of her sentence died in her throat as her eyes slowly turned white.
A second later, she collapsed unconscious into the backseat.
Shawn exhaled deeply and tossed the syringe aside. He quickly scooped up her legs and moved her fully into the seat. Once she was secured, he jogged around the car and jumped into the front passenger seat.
"Let's go," he said to the person behind the wheel.
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror to check on the unconscious Penny. Without wasting another second, the tires screeched as the car sped off.
DING!
Teddy practically forced the elevator doors open and squeezed himself out. As soon as he stepped into the parking level, he heard tires screeching.
"Miss Pen-" he almost bit his tongue as he caught sight of a sedan speeding away.
"No." His breath hitched as he clutched at his hair with both hands, watching the car vanish down the exit ramp. Still, he caught a glimpse of Shawn's silhouette. It was blurry, but Teddy would never mistake that shape.
"Shit..." he breathed, his heart sinking.
Teddy still had no idea what exactly was going on. But he did know one thing: Penny was in danger. And somehow, Shawn was involved.
"No," he repeated as panic started to creep into his voice. "No, no. I need to—"
Just then, Teddy heard an approaching car, coming from the same direction Shawn's vehicle had come from. His eyes widened immediately upon recognizing the vehicle.
Without thinking twice, he ran toward it and stood in its path, spreading his arms wide as if daring it to hit him.
SCREECH!
The car slammed to a stop, tires shrieking as the noise echoed through the underground parking lot. But Teddy didn't flinch.
He slammed his palms onto the hood, then rushed to the passenger door and yanked it open. Without a second thought, he jumped into the seat and turned to the driver.
Mark looked at him in confusion, his brows furrowed. He was still processing Teddy's pale, distressed face when Teddy blurted:
"Miss Penny is in danger!" Teddy didn't beat around the bush. "I don't know exactly what's going on, but she's in danger. And Shawn-Shawn has something to do with it. I know it sounds crazy, but-"
"Buckle up," Mark cut him off, shifting the car into reverse. "You'll die if you don't."
Teddy gulped and complied, pulling the seatbelt strap over himself. As soon as it clicked into place, Mark made a hard turn. Even though his car was usually soundproofed, the sharp screech of the tires echoed inside.
Teddy gripped the door handle tightly, holding his breath as he felt the G-force tug his body back.
Mark, on the other hand, was already speeding out of the underground.
He had driven past a black sedan just a moment ago, and saw Shawn in it. He hadn't thought much of it at the time. After all, Penny allowed those close to her to use the underground parking: Zoren, Atlas, Hugo, Slater, Yugi-anyone in her trusted circle.
Though she didn't let her secretaries use the garage, that was mostly because none of them had cars. Hayley used to, but lately she'd been relying on ride apps. So Mark assumed Shawn had simply arrived in his own car today. He hadn't seen Penny in the vehicle.
Now, he gripped the wheel tighter, jaw clenched. As he sped up the tight spiral toward the exit, he put in his earpiece and pressed a button on the steering
wheel.
"Miss Penny's in danger," he said sharply. "She's possibly in the black sedan that just left Prime Group premises."
He paused, his eyes flashing. "I'm already in pursuit, but I need backup."
[Prime Group - Yugi's Office]
Yugi stretched his neck from side to side as he casually stepped out of his office. As he did, he noticed two of his staff talking to someone he didn't recognize.
"Hmm?" He frowned. "What's going on here?"
The two people just a few meters away turned to him. Both wore conflicted expressions before the man from Yugi's department spoke.
"She's from HR," the guy explained. "But she's saying something... strange."

The lady pursed her lips, mustering the courage to speak. "Sir Yugi, I was

"And he told me something strange," she added. "He said I should come here and tell you... that Miss Penny is in danger."

"Haha! Of course Penny's in a pickle," Yugi laughed it off. "The company's getting
backlash over one article, after all."
He gave them a reassuring nod as he walked past. "Don't worry about it. I'll go
check on her."

But the moment his back was turned,
his smile dropped. He walked faster, pulling his phone from his pocket. Inside the fift, his signal faltered, so this he waited. As soon as he stepped out, he quickly dialed a number while

Before the man could end the call, Yugi's voice finally came through-quiet, low,
and firm.
"Uncle Wild," he said.
The tone alone was enough for Wild to know something had gone horribly wrong.
"Penny's in danger. Our guys in the control room are down."
