Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress

Chapter 1746

Chapter 1746: Surprising—but not, isn't it?

Outside Atlas's office, Allen leaned against one of the cubicles stationed nearby, eyes flickering to the door as he checked his wristwatch.

"This is weird," he muttered. "What's taking them so long?"

It had been almost an hour since Zoren entered Atlas's office-far longer than his usual visits. Even Atlas never stayed that long in Zoren's office, unless the matter was really important.

"I wonder what the problem is?" he mumbled, tilting his head from side to side. But before his thoughts could go further, Benjamin's voice snapped him out of it.

"Hey!"

Allen flinched and turned, startled to find Benjamin already standing beside him. His brows rose the moment he saw the fire burning in Benjamin's eyes.

"What now? Who did you fight this time?" Allen asked quietly, glancing around the department before his gaze settled back on Benjamin. "Benjamin, if this is another rumor-"

"Look at this." Benjamin shoved a tablet at Allen, nostrils flaring. "See this and you'll understand! We need to teach some people a lesson!"

Allen furrowed his brows and took the tablet despite his confusion. As he tapped the screen, a few possible explanations ran through his mind.

Maybe another forum post hating on the chocolates they all secretly loved. Maybe someone was being creepy toward one of the girl idols they followed, or maybe just a dumb comment on their last post.

Plenty of possibilities, but none prepared him for what he saw.

As Allen read the article, his brows knitted further. The corners of his mouth pulled into a frown.

"See?!" Benjamin huffed. "They're slandering Miss Penny!"

Allen sighed. "So that's why they're still in there, huh?"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Your boss and my boss have been locked in that office for almost an hour now," Allen said, eyes flicking toward the door as he handed the tablet back. "They're probably figuring out how to respond to this."

Benjamin frowned, taking the tablet. "What kind of reaction is that? Shouldn't you be angry?"

"I am upset."

"I don't see it."

"Because..." Allen let out a shallow breath and turned to face him again. "Because someone else is already at work."

He pointed at the COO's office door. "They're probably planning to bury whoever wrote this article. So, even if it's garbage, those people will realize soon enough they messed with the wrong person."

"Tch." Benjamin's frown deepened. "Yeah, but that doesn't mean we should just do nothing! As members of Miss Penny's fan club, being keyboard warriors is our sacred duty."

Allen's face twitched.

"Now make an account and let's blast them-oh, wait." Benjamin whipped out his phone to answer the incoming call. The moment the line connected, he barked, "Miss President, did you see what I sent you?!"

Lily, on the other end, didn't miss a beat. "Yep. Let's blast them. I'm calling an emergency meeting of the fan club. Some are already making accounts. We're handling this."

"It's war," Lily added, and she meant every word of it.

"Great!" Benjamin hung up and gave Allen a serious look. "Miss President has spoken. This is war, Allen. Work hard."

With that, Benjamin stormed off, completely forgetting that his boss was still in the middle of a meeting. He was off to create dummy accounts, acting like he didn't have a day job.

Allen's face contorted as he watched Benjamin's figure disappear. He shook his head a bit, only realizing now how vast their dedication toward Penny was. Surely, Benjamin was more passionate.

"Goodness," he muttered, before glancing back at the office door. "Well..."

He shrugged and dragged himself to his desk to create a few dummy accounts too. Because even if he knew Atlas and Zoren were already plotting the takedown of the article's author, the peer pressure from the fan club was something else entirely.

Meanwhile, inside Atlas's office...

"I see..." Atlas rocked his head slowly. "That's a bit complicated, indeed."

"You'll pull it off."

Atlas snapped his eyes to Zoren. "If you did, of course I would."

"Haha." A shallow laugh escaped Zoren. He wasn't the least bit bothered. "The book is with Penny now. I'll ask her to bring it home later."

"Mhm. I'll come by your place, then."

A quiet pause settled between them before Zoren placed his hands on the armrest to push himself up.

"Since everything's covered-" he stopped mid-motion as Atlas spoke again.

"Zoren."

Zoren raised a brow slightly and sat back down. "Is there something else you

need to know?"

"Did you die?" Atlas asked bluntly,

eyes fixed on his brother-in-law. "You

said you reopened Renny's case With Renny'scase Nathaniel's help the key witness and ve

whistleblower of this whole thing.

You cleared her name even after

death." The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest

He paused, watching Zoren carefully. "But to do that, you must've gained the Zorken Family's power. So, my question is-did you die in the end?"

Zoren didn't respond right away. He simply met the pure curiosity in Atlas's gaze.

"Yes," he said eventually. "I did. I was probably the last one to die."

"Was it them?" Atlas asked. "Did they betray you? Or did you betray them, so

they killed you?"

"No, I didn't-and they didn't," Zoren said with a soft chuckle. "Surprisingly, they were the type who kept their word. They're strict. Rule-bound. You could say that was just the way they were raised." The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

Atlas tilted his head. "So... did you kill yourself? Or did your health finally give

out?"

"My health was already declining. I only had a few months—maybe even just

weeks-left."

Atlas's brows furrowed. He studied Zoren carefully, trying to piece it together.

"If the Zorkens didn't betray you or kill

you, and you didn't take your life nor did your illness get you...". Atlas trailed off as he leaned back in his chair. "Then who ended you?" The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

Zoren didn't answer.

He stood, walked toward the door. But just as he reached for the handle, he

paused.

Then, he looked back at Atlas and smiled.

"It's..." He paused again.

When the next words left his mouth, Atlas's eyes widened in shock.

Meanwhile, Zoren chuckled. "Surprising-but not, isn't it?"
