From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent

Chapter 529

Chapter 529
A good girl?
Rebecca? You're really calling Rebecca a good girl?
Karen felt like Daniel was about to give her a heart attack.
"Would you just shut your mouth already? Everything you say is worse than garbage! If you can't speak like a normal person,
then don't speak at all! I honestly don't get it-Keith Robinson and Jake Robinson are both smart men. How did someone as
dense as you end up in the Robinson family? You absolute idiot!"
Keith Robinson was Daniel's grandfather, and Jake was his father.
Karen didn't even pause for breath before continuing, "That shameless Rebecca? Even if she came crawling to us, the
Christensen family wouldn't take her! She can dream of marrying into our family-not in this life, or the next, or ever. Not in a
million lifetimes!"
Watching Karen ramble on and misunderstand Rebecca so badly, Daniel felt genuinely miserable.
Who knows what Sherman had been saying to Karen behind his back?
People get confused when they get older, he supposed.
What a shame-he'd always thought Karen was reasonable.
But now, it was obvious she was totally blinded by her own bias.
Daniel struggled to keep his emotions in check. "Mrs. Christensen, the whole broken engagement thing was just a
misunderstanding. Ms. Morris is truly a wonderful young woman. Honestly, there isn't anyone else in the world who deserves

Sherman more than she does."
Karen, already fuming, only grew angrier at his words. "My granddaughter-in-law Ann is leagues ahead of Rebecca! Rebecca
isn't even fit to tie Ann's shoes. You must be blind! You good-for-nothing brat, you're going to be the death of me! Apologize right
now, or I'll never forgive you!"
Because of the whole Middle East incident, Karen really didn't want to stoop to Daniel's level.

"Ann?" Daniel narrowed his eyes. "You mean Anthea, right?"
Karen's mood softened-if only a little at the mention of Anthea. "Exactly! Ann is my granddaughter-in-law. You know her too, don't
you?"
So that's what this was all about.
No wonder Sherman tried to pin the racing fiasco on Anthea.
In that instant, any fondness Daniel had for Anthea vanished.
He'd thought she was different from other girls.
But now, it was clear she was nothing like the image he'd had in his mind.
Anthea had schemed her way into the family, all for a shot at marrying Sherman.
He'd been totally wrong about her.
Anger rising, Daniel looked straight at Karen. "Mrs. Christensen, with all due respect Anthea is incredibly
manipulative. The incredet
true-beautiful women bring trouble. She's not good enough for Sherman-"

Karen hadn't wanted to argue with someone so much younger, but now Daniel

was openly badmouthing Anthea.
How could she possibly let that slide?
No way.
She cut him off mid-sentence. "Shut
up! Just shut your mouth, you brat! How dare you insult my granddaughter-in-law Ann is
vel

shining moon in the sky and Rebecca's not even worth the dirt beneath her feet! Your brain must be full of mush, your head full
of fish! You can't tell good from bad! Bob! Bill! Jack! Claud! Get in here!"
"Yes, ma'am!" Four burly men in dark suits and sunglasses rushed in from outside.
They were the Christensens' bodyguards, usually responsible for Karen's safety. Daniel tried to keep talking, "Mrs. Christensen,
I'm just telling the truth—”
But Karen didn't give him a chance. She snapped, "Bob! Bill! Jack! Claud! Shut this idiot up for me!"
The four bodyguards moved with lightning speed, slapping duct tape over Daniel's mouth before he could say another word.
Karen jabbed a finger toward the
het
door Throw him out! Right And from this day on, dont ever let
him
set foot in our house again!"
"Yes, ma'am."
The four bodyguards dragged Daniel away.
He might have been tough, but these guys were professionals—he didn't stand a chance.
Now, unable to speak and fuming with rage, Daniel felt like he was about to explode.
Was this what happened to everyone when they got old-completely losing all sense of right and wrong?
Karen had never been like this before.
