Chapter 2469

Chapter 2469
"Hmm?"
Sophia bit her lip, her gaze dropping as she spoke in a low voice, "I ran into Hugo today!"
"Who's Hugo?" Jason asked.
"He's a classmate of Robin."
Jason's tone was mildly indifferent, "Yeah, and what did he say?"
"I think I got Robin all wrong."
"What kind of misunderstanding?"
"You know, when we ran into Zoey over the holidays, everything he told me was a lie. Hugo cleared it all up for me today!"
Sophia relayed the conversation she had with Hugo to Jason.
She never could keep anything from Jason, and with this matter weighing on her heart, she needed someone to talk to.
Jason remained silent for a long while after she finished, only speaking up when Sophia called his name in confusion.
"What do you make of all this? Realizing you misunderstood Robin, finding out he's still the person you've always admired,
realizing you still have feelings for him?"

His tone was harsh and cold, leaving Sophia momentarily stunned before she replied, "Of course not!"
"What's going through your mind now, then?" Jason pressed.
Sophia bit her lip, "I just feel a bit guilty, that's all."
The words she had said to Robin before were harsh, and now that she knew she had misunderstood him, she felt a pang of guilt.
"Guilty?" Jason's voice grew colder, "Because of guilt, are you saying you can overlook him betraying you?"
"I am not!" Sophia asserted forcefully, "That's a completely different issue!"

She would never forgive Robin's betrayal, but misunderstanding his character was her own rash mistake. She didn't believe
these two issues should be conflated!
After a moment of silence, Jason finally spoke in a subdued voice, "Before, you despised him, hated him, and now it's turned to
guilt. What will guilt turn into next? Sophia, are you truly able to see your own heart clearly?"
Sophia was at a loss for words, and just as she was about to reply, Jason had already hung up.
A heavy weight seemed to settle in Sophia's chest, a dull ache spreading through her.
Putting down her phone, she stared
out into the pitch-black night, irritation surging within her, yet with no
Atlet for release, she feltdike
crying.

She had only shared her honest feelings, so why was she being misunderstood?
And he hung up on her!
Leaning against the railing, the chilly night air slapped against her face as she hugged her arms, feeling a deep coldness inside.
After what felt like an eternity, just
she was about to fall asleep against the railing, she heard the door open behind her and footsteps
approaching rapidly.
Turning around, the sight of the man in front of her brought tears to her eyes.
Jason frowned, "What are you doing out on the balcony? Want to catch a cold?" Sophia remained still.
Jason walked over, draping his
jacket around her, his fingers brushing against her face, cold to the touch. He was about to scold her when suddenly, she
wrapped her arms around him. '

The warmth and softness of her embrace diffused all his anger in that moment.
His jacket still held his warmth, and his embrace was equally inviting, making Sophia hold on tight.
Jason's arms encircled her shoulders. Even though she was in his arms, his heart felt adrift, lacking any sense of grounding.
She had loved Robin for too long, and he was uncertain how much space Robin still occupied in her heart.
"What are you thinking about?" Jason's voice, mingled with the night breeze, carried a barely detectable panic.
Sophia mumbled, "I was wondering why you hung up on me earlier?"
Jason paused, then explained, "I was in such a hurry to find you, I didn't have time to explain."
His mind had been in turmoil, a blank slate as he rushed out the door. Looking back, he couldn't even remember how he had
made it downstairs.
