Chapter 2461

Chapter 2461
Sophia muttered a flustered "thank you" to the salesperson, feeling the warmth of Jason's grip as he led her away from the store.
Her palms were burning!
Once they were at a safe distance, Sophia shot Jason a mortified look. "Why did we buy that?"
Jason's face was the picture of calm. "It's always good to be prepared. You wouldn't want to have to rush out to buy it when the
moment comes, would you?"
Sophia had no words.
Jason's tone was steady, but as he turned his head away, the corners of his lips betrayed a slow, uncontrollable smile.
Sophia was dying of curiosity about what the salesperson had meant. Was it a comment about her or him?
Of course, as silly and as ambiguous as it was, she'd rather choke on her questions than actually ask Jason.
Back at their place, Jason sorted through their shopping bags, placing snacks into the special snack bin he had for Sophia, fresh
food into the kitchen, and finally, that blue box.
He handed it to her directly. "Put this in the top drawer of your nightstand."

"Oh!" Sophia's voice was a little shaky, trying to act cool, but as she turned to walk away, Jason didn't miss the redness of her
ears.
Jason was puzzled by Sophia's reaction.
She had been so into Robin before, and Robin was a perfectly normal guy. They couldn't possibly-
He didn't want to dwell on it and turned to head into the kitchen.
Sophia soon followed, finding Jason slicing tomatoes. She playfully reached out to grab one, but he swatted her hand away. "Did
you wash your hands?"
With a sheepish grin, Sophia went to wash her hands.

Once she was done, Jason had washed some cherries and put them in a bowl for her. "Go watch TV!"
Sophia popped a dark red cherry into her mouth, savoring the burst of flavor, before saying, "No, I'll help you cook."
Jason smiled softly. "What can you make?"
Sophia looked around. "I can wash the bell peppers. What are we making with them?"
"A mix of roasted veggies." Jason replied.
It was Sophia's favorite. She handed Jason a cherry. "Open up!"
He leaned down to accept it from her lips, then quickly fed it back to her. Watching her eyes widen, ke stood up, his voice gentle.

"Eat that first, then you can help."
"Okay!" Sophia mumbled, chewing on the cherry, her heart feeling like it might burst too.
Cooking together, Sophia's
clumsiness was met with playful scolding from Jason, and she didn't
hesitate to sass back, only to be silenced by a kiss.
After a moment of quiet, Sophia started chattering away again, with Jason contently listening, his lips curving into a smile he
couldn't suppress.
This was a scene he had never even dared to dream of.
He felt a twinge of fear, worrying that happiness had come too quickly, skeptical
that life could be this kind to him.
With Sophia's help, what usually
took an hour stretched into two, but Jason knew he couldn't entirely blame her playful interference for the delay.
Sitting down to eat, Sophia served Jason some beef cubes. "To the hero of the kitchen!"
Jason's voice was low. "You're rewarding me with my own cooking?"

Sophia was taken aback. "Isn't that okay?"
"It's fine, but it lacks a bit of... sincerity," Jason teased. "If you really want to
reward me, you could put a little more heart into it."
"Name it. As long as it's within my power, I'd do anything!" Sophia declared, full of feigned bravado.
"Stay the night," he said, his voice deep with intention.
