Chapter 831
Chapter 0831
With the evidence laid bare, there was no point in wasting more time arguing with Helena.
Suzy immediately called Evangeline and asked her to send someone over.
"I knew it," Helena said with a bitter laugh, her eyes filled with disdain.
"I was right all along. I said it from the start-there was no way you'd actually come here because Evangeline kicked you out.
"You and Dylan came here with a plan, working with her from the start. You were just waiting to frame me with some fabricated
crime.
"Suzy, do you know something? After these past few days, I actually started to see you as a friend.
"I've been lonely my whole life. Growing up in a royal family does that to you.
"People either avoid you or approach you with an agenda. I really thought you were different. But I was wrong. You're just like the
rest of them."
Suzy's cold laugh cut through the room.
"You're still clinging to that story? There's a saying for moments like this: 'You made your bed, now lie in it.' Your mistake was
thinking you were smarter than everyone else."
By now, she trusted nothing that came out of Helena's mouth.
innocence was just another desperate attempt to mislead her.
Helena seemed to realize she'd lost whatever leverage she had left.
Her expression hardened, and she slumped onto the sofa with a careless shrug. "Think what you want. I'm done explaining."
Suzy's lips curled into a cold smile. "Still playing the role to the very end, huh?
Fine. Go ahead, put on your performance. I'd love to see how long you can keep it up."
Did Helena really think sitting there with that resigned, indifferent look would convince anyone she was innocent?
Evangeline arrived shortly afterward, her face filled with concern the moment she spotted Suzy.
"Are you all right?" she asked, stepping closer.
"I'm fine," Suzy replied, then gestured toward Helena.
"She's all yours, sis. I'm going to check on Dylan."
Ever since that intruder showed up, Dylan had been alone in the bedroom.
And after everything that had happened tonight, Suzy wasn't about to leave him unattended any longer.
Lately, Dylan's body had grown even more rigid than before.
Without assistance, he could only lie there, completely immobile.
When Suzy returned to the room, she pulled back the blanket covering his face and met his gaze.
"Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?" she asked quickly.
"No," Dylan answered softly.
"Yeah, we've got solid evidence against Helena. But..."
Suzy's eyes shifted slightly, and she trailed off without finishing the sentence.
Instead, she helped Dylan sit up, carefully lifting him into his wheelchair.
Once he was settled, she pushed him out of the room.
In the living room, Evangeline and Helena stood face to face, tension crackling in the air.
"Helena, why?" Evangeline's voice was sharp with disbelief.
"If you want to go after me, then come at me directly. Why drag innocent people into it?"
"Do I need to remind you that you, of all people, know the truth?" Helena sneered.
"You wanted the throne, so I stepped aside. I gave you everything you wanted. I've stayed out of it all, gust
as you wished. So why won't you let me be?"
"Me? Not letting you go?" Evangeline's face twisted with sorrow.
"Do you really believe that? Of the two of us, who has refused to let go? Helena, you're my sister. We may
not share the same father, but I've
always treated you like family.
"Everything I'd do for my biological sister, I did for you. Why do you keep trying to hurt me?"
"Cut the act, Evangeline." Helena's gaze shifted to Suzy.
"She believes you now. You don't have to keep up this performance any longer."
