Chapter 636
“What’s your plan?” Mike demanded, with his hands on his waist. “That website wasn’t meant to be destroyed. If Nora knows about the dark web, it
means she’s got a network of contacts or groups there. We might find something useful on that site.”
Ian lowered his head, regretting his impulsive action. In retrospect, he shouldn’t have been so rash.
“I’ll handle it,” Mike reassured, patting Ian’s head. “You’ve finally got a couple days off. Rest up tonight and spend some time with your mom
tomorrow. Give me your laptop, and I’ll try to restore the website.”
“Nora... She’s no good,” Ian said. “Keep my mom away from her.”
“Nora’s after your dad, not your mom,” Mike pointed out.
Ian didn’t care much for Elijah’s wellbeing, so he let the subject drop.
Next day...
today.”
“Is he sick?” Violette asked, turning off the stove.
Ian shook his head. “He pulled an all-nighter and can’t wake up.”
“Oh... How’d you know that? You didn’t stay up with him, did you?”
“No, I just went to wake him up. He told me.”
“Well then, let him rest!” Violette’s bright smile returned. “I’ve made you some steak for breakfast. I hope it tastes good.”
Ever since she became pregnant, she hadn’t been in the kitchen.
“As long as it’s made by you, it’s delicious,” Ian responded with a faint smile, and his eyes were beaming.
Violette’s heart was filled with joy and all the unpleasant memories from back home were instantly forgotten.
After breakfast, Violette and Ian set off for the science museum. Taking Ian out meant avoiding places like amusement parks or shopping malls, which
held no interest for him. Only tech-related places could capture his attention.
On the way to the science museum, Ian kept staring at Violette’s belly. It seemed to have grown significantly in the half a month they were apart.
“Ian, do you want to feel my belly?” Violette asked with a smile. “Your little brother loves to kick. If you touch my belly, he might move!”
Ian found the idea fascinating and delicately placed his hand on her belly.
“When’s he coming out, mom?” Ian asked with curiosity.
“About three more months,” Violette replied. “He looks a lot like you!”
“Oh... What are you planning to name him, mom?” Ian asked, pulling his hand away and looking at her. “Please don’t let Elijah have him, okay?” In
Ian’s mind, Elijah was the ultimate villain.
Violette frowned slightly. “I can’t promise to keep your little brother with us, Ian. It’s not that I don’t want to take care of him. It’s just that Elijah is very
insistent.”
Ian’s face clouded over, and he turned to look out the window, grumbling, “He wants to use my brother to force you to be with him!”
“Ian, don’t be angry,” Violette urged, hugging him close. “When your brother is born, I’ll negotiate with Elijah. I’ll do my best to keep him with us.”
At the science museum, the weekend crowd was bustling. Bodyguards stayed close to Violette to prevent anyone from bumping into her.
“This robot can quickly mimic human voices. Just say something to it, and it will respond in your exact tone...”
The announcement from a nearby exhibit halted Violette in her tracks. She found herself drawn towards the exhibit. Her bodyguards and Ian followed
closely behind.
