Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change?

Chapter 1248

Chapter 1248
"All right."
Sherilyn and Nanson exchanged smiles.
Today, Sherilyn had arranged to meet Nanson on purpose.
She had a decent amount of assets under her name now, and since moving out on her own, she needed a professional firm to
help manage them.
It was Joyce who had suggested she reach out to her cousin, Nanson.
Nanson was a lawyer by trade, but he also ran an investment and financial management company. If she handed everything
over to him, she wouldn't have to worry about a thing.
After some polite small talk, Nanson got down to business. "Ms. Gomez, did you bring all the documents with you?"
"Yes, I did."
Sherilyn nodded and pulled a folder from her bag. "Here's the asset list, along with the original documents."
"Let me take a look..."
"Here you go."
Nanson accepted the folder, opened it, and carefully reviewed each item.
"Everything seems to be in order..."
He looked up with a smile. "You're very thorough everything's here. I'll take care of the rest, and once it's all set, I'll let you know

when to come in and sign. After that, we can go over the details together. Sound good?"
"Perfect."
Sherilyn smiled and nodded, perfectly content with the arrangement.

Beyond the fact that he was Joyce's cousin, she'd worked with Nanson before and he'd helped Rebecca White out in the past.
She trusted him completely.
Nanson put away the documents, slipped the folder into his briefcase, and glanced at the two women.
"Can I get you something to drink? Or to eat? My treat."
"Oh, I can't let you do that!" Sherilyn shook her head at once. "It's only right that I treat you, Mr. Cooper-after all, you—”
"Oh, stop it!" Joyce grabbed Sherilyn's arm. "My cousin's a gentleman. This is his job-he should be the one treating us!"
"But still-"
"Joyce is right," Nanson said, smiling at Sherilyn. "Let me handle the
money-I just landed a bigverine's
Don't worry about saving me
after
all."
He added, “Business is business, but now that we're done, you're my sister's friend, and I'm the older cousin. No way I'm letting
you two pay."
With that, Sherilyn couldn't argue any further. "Thank you, Mr. Cooper."
"You two are impossible..." Joyce rolled

We eyes. "All this 'Ms. Gomez'
and 'Mr. Cooper'-it sounds so stiff! friends here. No need for all
that formality."
She turned to Nanson. "Hey, do you not consider my friends your friends?"
“Uh.......” Nanson paused, then laughed. “Of course I do. Your friends are my friends."

"See? That's more like it." Joyce grinned, satisfied. "So no more of this 'Ms. Gomez' stuff. Just call each other by your first
names."
She looked at Sherilyn. "Same goes for you-drop the 'Mr. Cooper'! He's my cousin, which basically makes him your cousin too...
right, Nanson?"
"Joyce!" Sherilyn protested, a little embarrassed.
But Nanson just smiled and nodded at her. "Then I'll go first-Sherilyn."
Sherilyn blinked, caught off guard. “Oh—okay..."
But now she wasn't sure what to call him. She couldn't exactly start calling him "cousin" like Joyce did, could she?
As she hesitated, Nanson's phone rang.
"Excuse me," he said, getting to his feet. "I need to take this call. You two go ahead and order."
With that, he stepped outside.
As soon as he left, Sherilyn shot Joyce a look. "This is all your fault! He's your cousin—what am I supposed to call him?"
"Huh?" Joyce, ever straightforward, hadn't thought that far ahead-she'd just wanted to cut down on the formality.
"Is it really that hard? He's eight or
nine years older than you. Calling him 'cousin' wouldn't kill you,
ét
would
it?" Joyce teased, letting out a dramatic sigh.
