Under the heiress facade

Chapter 782

Chapter 782
Everly looked at Hera's hand reaching toward her in fear. Thinking Hera was about to strangle her, she quickly backed away.
"What are you doing?"
Hera plucked the bank card from her hand. "Get out!"
Everly stared at the card that was just taken from her as if her life had been snatched away. She was furious, but there was
nothing she could do.
She had learned her lesson after the incident with the herbs and knew she was no match for Hera, especially now that she was
injured. A confrontation was out of the question.
Everly had no choice but to leave the clinic.
Catherine stepped forward and tugged at Hera's sleeve. "I'm sorry, Hera. It's my fault for being too soft-hearted. I saw her crying,
and she seemed like she was sincerely apologizing, so I believed her..."
Hera clucked her tongue at Catherine's guilty expression and handed the bank card back to her. "If she truly felt guilty, she
wouldn't have come to ask you for money."

Catherine was at a loss for words. Thinking back to Everly's visit, she realized that she wouldn't have noticed Everly's deception
if not for Hera's intervention. Her acting had been so good, even better than Giselle's, making it hard to distinguish truth from lies.
"I'm sorry for causing you trouble again..."
"Alright, just be more careful next time." Hera's expression softened as she saw Catherine's remorseful look. "Have you had
lunch yet?"
Before Catherine could answer, her stomach growled.
Hera chuckled helplessly and softened her tone. "There's a nice restaurant nearby. Let's go there together, okay?"
"Okay." Catherine nodded.
Hera helped clean up the medical waste, washed the tools, and placed them in the sterilizer. Once they finished, they saw
Marriott arriving with a worried look.

"Ms. Hera, has Mr. Xavier come to see you? He disappeared this morning, and I've searched everywhere, but I still can't find
him," Marriott said anxiously.
With Lucius' case reopened, Killian Corporation and the Killians were in shambles. This was the perfect opportunity for Xavier to
slip away from the Killian family.
Seeing Marriott's distressed look, Hera felt sorry for her but still shook her head. "No, he hasn't."

"Alright, thank you." Marriott's hope faded and she muttered to herself, "Where could Mr. Xavier have gone?"
Before leaving, she begged Hera, "Ms. Hera, could you please let me know if Mr. Xavier does come to see you? He hasn't even
had breakfast, and he has no money with him. He must be starving."
Hera hesitated before replying, "Okay."
Marriott continued her search for Xavier, checking all the places she thought he might go.
But even when night fell, there was still no sign of him. With no other options, she reported him missing to the police.
The police responded quickly, but after searching the entire Jedburgh for three whole days, there was still no trace of Xavier. It
was as if he had vanished into thin air.
Though they couldn't find Xavier, the police managed to locate Frederick on the outskirts. He was returned to the Killian family,
but he was disheveled and in shock. Whenever he saw someone, especially a woman, he would cower in fear.
At night, he refused to leave his room. He would curl up in a corner with the lights on, too afraid to face anyone. He refused to let
anyone approach him. The Killian family brought in a doctor, who said he was suffering mentally and suggested he be taken to a
psychiatric hospital.
And so, another member of the Killian family went mad. But that was a story for another time.
After leaving the clinic, Everly thought of going back to her apartment complex in hopes of running into Wayne. But on her way
there, she spotted the Chime family's car parked at the entrance. She immediately hid in the bushes and slipped away quietly,
not daring to approach.
As evening fell and with nowhere to go, Everly wandered until she ended up under a bridge where many homeless people had
gathered. She found a corner and prepared to spend the night there.
