Chapter 378 A Fatal Mistake

Quinn dialed Sierra’s number, but it just kept ringing with no answer. With a pleasant smile, she said, “Ms. Sierra might be busy
and can’t answer your call. We’ll try again another day!”
She already knew this call would never go through.
By her estimate, the hit should’ve already gone down. Sierra should be dead–killed in a car accident. Any moment now, pictures
would start appearing online.
Just imagining Sierra’s gruesome end put Quinn in a great mood. She even took half a day off from work under the pretense of
spending time with Dora, but in truth, she stayed home to watch for the death photos on her computer.
But as the hours passed, nothing showed up. No photos. No news.
Quinn’s expression darkened. Did it fail? How could that be?
She knew just how ruthless those people were. If the money was right, they’d do anything–not just kill someone, but worse.
She’d seen someone request a live broadcast of a flaying, and those people had delivered.
A simple staged car accident should’ve been nothing.
But by nightfall, there was still nothing.
Her expression was now completely grim.
And then, suddenly, the doorbell rang. A chill ran down her spine.
Quinn’s heart skipped a beat, but her face remained calm, even lighting up with surprise.
“Johnathan! You’re back so soon? Was everything smooth?”
Jonathan didn’t answer. He walked straight in and sat down, motioning for the two men to take Dora away first. Only then did he
turn to Quinn.
“Thanks to you, everything went pretty smoothly.”
The moment she saw him have Dora taken away, Quinn knew–it was over. She was exposed.
She didn’t bother pretending anymore. Instead, she gave a small smile and sat down across from him.
“When did you find out?” she asked.
Jonathan looked at her steadily. “Since the last time Sierra got hurt, I knew something was wrong.”
Back then, he didn’t have proof–but he’d been on alert ever since.
“That early?” Quinn seemed genuinely surprised. “I thought I hadn’t left any traces.”
She’d gone to great–lengths to distance herself from that incident. She never imagined Jonathan would still suspect her.
“You are smart,” Jonathan said calmly. “I never found any solid proof. Every time, I thought I was just overthinking it.”
Then he added, “But you shouldn’t have used those drugs on Sierra.”
If she hadn’t done that, he wouldn’t have looked into the source of the drugs–and he wouldn’t have discovered that so many of
the substances now circulating on the black market had originated from his early research.
He had been abroad at the time.

And Quinn... had far too many.
Hearing his words, Quinn let out a soft laugh. “I shouldn’t have done that.”

She continued. “I just wanted to split you two up. I thought if you saw her get violated, you’d finally let go. After all, you’ve always
been obsessive about cleanliness.”
Jonathan was extremely territorial—like an animal—he hated having others step into what he considered his.
How could a man like that stand to see his woman humiliated by someone else?
Even if they stayed together afterward, the scar would still be there.
Even if Jonathan didn’t mind Sierra being assaulted, knowing his personality, he’d be plagued by guilt for not protecting her -and
that guilt would change their relationship forever.
You had to admit, Quinn knew him well.
If Sierra had really been harmed, things might have turned out very differently.
The plan had been perfect. But who could’ve guessed Sierra, despite being drugged, could still tell whether or not the man was
Jonathan? That slip had ruined everything.
After that, Quinn realized breaking them up wouldn’t be enough. That’s when she decided Sierra had to die.
“You two really put on a good show. I had no idea. I thought I’d hidden everything so well.”
She gave a little sigh. “But just based on suspicions, you set a trap to lure me out?”
“Of course not,” Jonathan shot her a look. “You are a good actress. But do you know where you made your biggest mistake?”
Quinn tilted her head slightly, feigning curiosity.
Jonathan let out a mocking laugh. “You thought a three–year–old wouldn’t give anything away. And you did keep Dora under
tight control. But you forgot the most important thing–children are usually closest to their mothers. Unless... their mother isn’t
human.”
