Chapter 2478
The moment Grant's words fell, Clarice caught the sound of ominous footsteps behind her, like the hiss of a venomous snake slithering through the dark, its tongue flicking coldly in the air.
"Miss Amaryllis, it's been a while."
Clarice whipped around, her eyes wide with shock.
"It's you... Elio Valen?!"
"Oh, you still remember my name." Elio smirked as he brushed past her, heading
straight toward Grant's wheelchair. "Now, I'm one of Mr. Salvador's people. I follow only his orders."
Grant lifted the teacup and took a slow sip. "Our team has grown stronger. Isn't that wonderful?"
Clarice stood frozen for a moment, then something clicked. Her eyes widened. "Sir, was Arnold the genius doctor who developed the drug?!"
Grant's smile widened in satisfaction. "Not bad. You're still as sharp as ever."
Elio could not have appeared at a better time.
The answer was now painfully obvious.
Clarice steadied herself and stepped forward, her gaze locked onto Elio's cold, stern face. "So, what's the plan?"
"Elio, I know you're eager to prove yourself, but we have rules here as well." Grant twirled the teacup lid between his slender, pale fingers, his eyes fixed on the tea leaves. "Anyone who wants to stay by my side must first offer a token of loyalty. No exceptions."
Elio's lips curled into a dark, sinister smile. "I understand. Since I've chosen to follow you, I've already decided to eliminate your problems for you."
Grant raised a brow. "Oh?"
Elio's eyes gleamed darkly. "Right now, Arnold is your biggest problem. I will take care of him."
Clarice's heart clenched.
Anyone who came into his circle was a tool to be used until they were utterly spent.
Clarice gazed into Elio's deep, amber eyes, her breaths heavy and uneven.
She knew Grant's true nature. He was a serpent with a charming face-a devil wrapped in silk. Yet, despite everything, she could not help but wonder if Grant would treat her just a little differently.
Grant feigned surprise, blinking. "Are you sure? After all, Arnold has the exact same face as your brother, Kairos."
Elio's eyes burned red with hatred. He spat every word through gritted teeth. "My brother was one of a kind! Arnold may look like him, but
nothing but a pathetic, ugly
vein
imitation! I will not allow that thing to exist in this world. I will destroy him completely.
"My brother is dead, and yet Arnold walks around with his face, breathing, living, and stealing everything Kairos held dear-even the person Kairos loved most! How can I swallow this humiliation? How can I face my brother if I don't erase Arnold from this world?!"
Grant listened quietly, the room heavy with Elo's venomous words. After a moment, he chuckled. "If that's the case, then Arnold is the least of your concerns. After all, he didn't choose his own face. But Asher Thompson is truly despicable, tossing aside his old flare and
using Arnold as a mere stand-in.
How disgusting!"
Elio's fists clenched so tightly his knuckles cracked. "Hah... Once I finish dealing with that Larson scum..."
Grant shook his head slightly, his smile almost gentle. "Slow down. Rash actions lead to long nights filled with regret. Besides, if you go after Arnold first, you'll set off a storm within the Thompson family. By then, getting to Asher will be almost impossible."
Elio stiffened. "Then, what do you suggest?"
"If you're going to do it, do it right. Why settle for one when you can eliminate them both?"

Grant sighed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "In the end, you'd be doing CO them a favor-dying together as

Elio's gaze turned murderous. "Once it's all over, I'll go to Kairos and explain
everything."
Grant's lips curved. "Then prepare well. Good luck. Just ask if you need assistance."
Elio gave a deep bow, brushed past Clarice, and left the room.
"Sir, forgive me for saying this, but striking against Arnold Larson so suddenly
may
cause a lot of unnecessary chaos..." Clarice's worry was evident.
