Chapter 24
The man dragged her inside once again.
Evelyn winced in pain and instinctively reached out to scratch his hand, which was immediately marked with several bloody
scratches.
He got furious, threw Evelyn backward and slapped her hard across the face. "Bitch, you had this coming!"
Evelyn was struck so hard that stars danced before her eyes, and it took her a long time to recover.
In the dim light cast by the streetlamps outside, he gazed at Evelyn's stunningly beautiful face with a sinister smile. "Just behave
and it'll be easier on you."
Then, he lunged at her.
"Let me go. I can pay you."
Evelyn was both scared and panicked, but she tried to keep calm on the surface, attempting to negotiate her release with the
man.
The man was unmoved, laughing lewdly and eagerly leaning down to kiss her.
Evelyn hurriedly dodged. The man's lips landed on her cheek, and his foul breath made her stomach churn. Her throat was
already hoarse from screaming, but she refused to give up.
She struggled desperately, kicking and punching. The man spread her legs and pinned her down, making her immobile. His eyes
were full of lust. He couldn't wait any longer.
With a rip, he tore open the clothes inside her coat. His actions became more frantic and rough.
"Get off! Don't touch me!!" Evelyn screamed fiercely. But no matter how hard she fought, she couldn't stop the man at all.
His coarse hands touched her, wrapping around her like a venomous snake, sending chills all over her body.
"No!!" Evelyn's face was filled with despai
Just as the man was about to enter her, Evelyn suddenly felt lighter. Charles had kicked the man on top of her, and he flew into
the wall with a loud crash.
The man let out a pained grunt, fell heavily to the ground, and coughed up blood. With just one kick, he was left powerless to
resist.
punch, each blow landing forcefully.
The man was beaten to the brink of death and tossed aside by Charles.
Evelyn gazed at Charles' tall and upright figure, dazed. The scene reminded her of when she was fourteen.
Since she was eight, she had lived with her foster mother and the Jenkins family. Rosa treated her exceptionally well in the
Jenkins household.
Evelyn's foster mother was a servant, but Rosa cherished her as her own granddaughter, even more so than her actual
granddaughter, Sena.
Coming from an orphanage as a frail and skinny child, Evelyn had been nurtured back to health in just a few years.
One day, when she was targeted by local bullies and dragged into a dark alley, Charles appeared just in time. Back then, he
single-handedly beat those bullies until they were gasping for breath.
Evelyn was cowering and crying in a corner, and Charles pulled her to her feet and said, "Go on."
She was still in a state of extreme fear. Her whole body was tense, and her reactions were slow. She heard his words and looked
up at him, puzzled.
Charles uttered coldly from his thin lips, "Hit them!"
Hearing his command, she instinctively shrank back. She was afraid.
Charles frowned, effortlessly pulled her back from behind him, and pushed her forward. He said in a deep voice, "What are you
afraid of? Evelyn, from now on, if anyone bullies you, fight back. Fight until they're dead or crippled, I've got your back."
