The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 54

Chapter 54 I Want a Card
No matter what Michael and Sophia did or said, she wasn't going to let it get her down anymore.
She had to protect her kid; nothing mattered more than her baby now. After leaving the obstetrics department, she grabbed the
prenatal report. It said the baby was super healthy. 'That little dark spot on the ultrasound, is that my baby?' she wondered.
Daniel spoke up, "The baby's doing great, Emily. You gotta take it easy. Stop stressing over all that other stuff."
Emily nodded. "I will. I'll take good care of the baby." Then something hit her. "Hey, Daniel, do you know any good nursing
homes?"
"Why?" Daniel asked, looking puzzled.
Emily said, "I want to move my mom to a nursing home."
Now that Sophia and Evelyn knew Isabella was here, she had to be ready for anything.
Daniel looked confused. "A nursing home? Why? Isn't this place good enough? Plus, the equipment's on its way back. Moving
her now could be a hassle since the hospital has to process the application. If she's in a nursing home, you might not get the
benefits."
Emily was momentarily stumped.
Daniel continued, "What's up? Is there a problem? Isabella's been here so long, she might need to be prepared for a sudden
change."
Emily thought for a moment and said, "Daniel, my mom's in some danger. You know, my parents never got along. After they split,
my dad kept looking for her. Now that he knows she's here, he'll definitely send someone to find her. He wants to hurt her again,
so I'm worried. I want to move her to a nursing home."

As Emily spoke, she lowered her head, feeling downcast. She really didn't know what to do.
Seeing her like this, Daniel felt bad. He said, "Emily, I'll help you with this. Even though moving her might be a pain, this hospital
is huge. It's easy to hide someone here. Just switch rooms, and no one will know." Emily looked up, surprised. "Really?"

Daniel nodded with a smile. "Don't worry, I'll handle it. No one knows this hospital better than I do. I grew up here." He added,
"My parents are both doctors here, and so was my grandpa. I used to play around here as a kid. Hiding someone is a piece of
cake for me."
Emily thought so too. With a family of doctors, finding a hidden spot should be easy.
Just as she was about to thank him, Daniel cut her off, "Stop, Emily. No more thank-yous. If you really want to thank me, how
about treating me to a meal? That'd be more practical."
Emily laughed. "No problem. Just a meal, right? Sure, whenever you're free, I'll treat you to the fanciest one. Order whatever you
want."
"Alright, I won't hold back then." Daniel smiled, looking into her eyes. Her eyes were really beautiful. He was captivated by them.
With Isabella's issue sorted, Emily felt a lot better. She didn't care about Michael and Sophia anymore. She walked out of the
hospital with the ultrasound report. Nothing was more important than Isabella and the baby now; they were the closest people to
her in the world.
On her way back, Emily suddenly remembered she hadn't finished the jewelry design for Thalia, but no one from Moonlit
Treasures had bugged her about it.
She decided to shoot a message to Moonlit Treasures' business department, asking why there was no follow-up on Thalia's
design.
To her surprise, Moonlit Treasures replied quickly, saying there was no need to design for Thalia anymore.
Emily immediately got the gist. With Michael's connections, it wouldn't be hard for him to find out Thalia had drugged him. Plus,

Thalia and Sophia's big fight in the dressing room had become a hot topic. Thalia was probably in hot water now. She checked
the entertainment news and saw that Thalia had been dropped from the red carpet event. No wonder no one had chased her for
the jewelry design.
Emily didn't think much of it. She just didn't feel like going home yet, so she called up Abigail.
Emily and Abigail hit up a pottery studio together. They made a bunch of stuff and felt super relaxed. Emily thought this was her
kind of thing and joked about opening a pottery studio when she got old.

Then Emily remembered Scarlett and the gift she was supposed to get for Veda. She had no clue what to buy, so she called
Michael, "Michael, have you got Veda's gift sorted?"
Michael, still ticked off from their argument that morning, huffed, "What? Trying to suck up to Veda now? Isn't it a bit late?"
Emily bit back her anger and kept her cool. She just said, "Your mom asked me to get her a gift. Plus, it's Veda's birthday, and I
don't have the cash for it."
Michael thought for a moment, feeling stuck. He said, "Emily, I've already got Veda's gift. You don't need to worry about it."
Emily snorted, "I don't want to worry about it either, but tell your mom to stop bugging me. She specifically asked me to buy it
myself."
Michael sighed, "Alright." Then he transferred money to Emily. When Emily saw the large amount, she suddenly thought of
Sophia's VIP card and didn't want the transfer anymore. She called Michael again and said, "I want a bank card, not a transfer."
Michael, confused by Emily's request, said, "Wait, I'll have someone send it to you."
Emily was finally satisfied and hung up the phone.
The next day, before Emily was even awake, Scarlett called to remind her not to forget it was Veda's birthday, while also throwing
in some usual snark.
Emily angrily hung up the phone and tossed it on the bed. 'I just want a bit of naptime for crying out loud,' she thought.
Veda's birthday was at a swanky riverside club, packed with rich and influential second-generation types. Emily didn't want to
hang out with them, so she handed the party favors and gift to the front desk and was about to leave. But Veda called her back.
Emily sighed inwardly and turned around reluctantly.
Veda rudely said, "Where's my gift?"
Veda was wearing a white dress and had delicate makeup, looking just like a little princess.
