The Billionaire's Forbidden Longing

Chapter 29

Chapter 29 The Brown Family Goes Bankrupt
Allison had never seen anyone as striking as Liliana, nor had she ever seen a mom defend her kid so fiercely. It was a feeling
she hadn't experienced in her eighteen years.
A wave of bitterness hit her. Other moms would always believe in their kids, but what about hers?
Thinking about it, Allison couldn't help but smirk. She blinked away the heat in her eyes and quickly put on a calm face.
"Sophia was framed! You guys are the bad ones! It's all your fault what happened to my Sophia," Madeline ranted, still being
unreasonable.
But Nolan had had enough and slapped Madeline. "Even now, you're still this stubborn. The police have proof of what Sophia
did. You say she was framed, but where's your proof? How did I end up with a family like you? The Brown family is done, do you
get it? All because of your precious daughter!"
With that, Nolan stormed off, leaving Madeline to fall to the ground from the slap. She eventually crawled away in disgrace under
everyone's gaze. Hayden, feeling distressed, grabbed Allison's hand tightly, breathing heavily in anger.
Sensing Hayden's emotional change, Allison lowered her head and coaxed, "Grandpa, I'm fine, so please don't be angry, okay?
Look, I'm perfectly fine."
"Even your shoulder is bruised! Allison, how could you be so foolish?" Mia was almost in tears again.
Liliana quickly went over to hug her shoulders while turning to Allison. "I'm Liliana, Mia's mom. Allison, thank you for saving my
daughter! Mia said it's not safe for you to live alone. Why don't you come stay at my place?"
Yet Liliana's sincere invitation to Allison made Hayden feel a bit uncomfortable.
Hayden asked, "Are you the eldest daughter of the Carter family?"
Hayden looked at him, "Are you Hayden?"
Hayden nodded while holding onto Allison's hand tightly as if afraid she would be taken away the next moment. "There's no need
for the Carter family to worry about Allison. We can take care of her!" For some reason, Allison sensed that Hayden seemed to
have some beef with the Carter family.

Liliana didn't get mad and politely said goodbye before leaving with Mia.

Blair's gaze towards Allison was still unfriendly, but with Hayden around, she pretended to be motherly. "Where do you live? Take
us there and pack your things. You're coming home with me right now!"
Blair thought that someone as troublesome as Allison should be kept at home under watch. Although she didn't like the idea of
Allison living with them, after today's events, Blair felt that Allison still lacked proper upbringing. Allison sneered, "No need to
trouble yourself, Mrs. Bennett. I have a place to live, and it's quite nice! And don't forget, Mrs. Bennett, I haven't been part of the
Bennett family for five years. I won't be going back!" "Damn it, how long are you going to keep this up? If you don't provoke
others, will they harm you?"
Blair's logic really left everyone present stunned, and they couldn't help but think, 'Is this something a mother should say to her
daughter?'
Hayden was so angry that he almost hit her with his cane. "Get out of my sight! What a disgrace! What a fool!"
Being scolded by Hayden, Blair felt quite wronged. Over the years, she couldn't hold her head high in Skycrest's social circles
because of Allison. She directly turned and left, deciding to consider Allison as good as dead. Seeing Hayden so angry and
upset, Allison decided to take a leave of absence and took the old Mr. Hayden out for a meal. Only then did his spirits begin to
lift. Hayden said earnestly, "I'll get Jonah to buy you a house near the school. No one in the Bennett family should be renting. If
people found out about your living situation, people would be talking non-stop."
Allison didn't turn down Hayden's offer. She knew how much he valued his reputation, so if he wanted to give her a new house,
she'd take it. "Alright, Grandpa, I'll listen to you!"
Hearing her agree, Hayden was pleased, but thinking about all Allison had to endure at such a young age made his heart ache
even more. "About the shares, Jonah will come by tomorrow to handle the paperwork. I want everything settled." Allison lowered
her head. Initially, she had agreed to accept the shares out of sheer impulsiveness, but now she felt it might not be right.
"Grandpa, let's forget about the shares. They're right; Jasper is the rightful heir of the Bennett Group. It's not suitable for me to
have these shares."
Hayden got flustered. "Nonsense! In my eyes, no one is more suitable than you! Allison, this isn't compensation for the past five
years; it's a sign of my trust in you! Your father knows nothing about business. If it weren't for me, the Bennett Group would have
collapsed long ago! And Jasper, he's even worse; he's not cut out for business at all!"

During Jasper's time as general manager, several of his projects had lost money. He ventured into real estate, but his

recklessness resulted in poor-quality buildings that couldn't be sold, nearly causing a financial crisis for the Bennett Group.
Thinking about this, Hayden couldn't help but sigh. Neither his son nor his grandson was the right choice for a successor.
Hayden had always had high hopes for Allison. Even when others said her grades were poor, Hayden knew that Allison was the
smartest among the Bennett family. "Grandpa, can I think about it?"
"Alright!"
Given Hayden's decisive nature, even if Allison didn't want the shares, she would have to take them!
After calming her grandfather down, Allison took him home. But Hayden insisted on seeing where Allison lived, so she brought
him to Oceanview Apartments.

Seeing the nice environment of Oceanview Apartments, Hayden made a quick decision. "We'll buy the biggest unit here!"
Allison felt a bit helpless yet still unconsciously smiled. The large units at Oceanview Apartments cost millions of dollars, but
Hayden didn't care about that. He truly cared for Allison. So, the love Allison didn't get from her mother, she ultimately got from
someone else.
After Hayden left, Allison went upstairs to take a shower and change clothes, but she couldn't lift her arm. While undressing, her
shoulder hurt so much that she broke out in a cold sweat.
In the bathroom, Allison saw that half of her back was bruised and purple through the mirror, looking quite frightening. But she
didn't care and took a shower, then applied some ointment before lying down on the bed and falling asleep. Meanwhile, at the
Brown Villa, Nolan and Madeline had just returned home when they got a call from the lawyer, who told them to liquidate their
assets because the bailiffs would be coming in the morning. The Brown family was finally bankrupt.
Nolan hung up the phone with trembling hands, his eyes vacant as he collapsed to the ground. Madeline sat on the couch crying,
lamenting her bad luck.
Madeline seemed to remember something and hurriedly left the house. "I can't let Sophia be ruined like this. No, I have to save
her, I must save her!" Nolan thought for a moment and went straight to his study. He could only look out for himself now; he

couldn't worry about anyone else.
Madeline went directly to her parents' house. Her younger brother was a famous lawyer in Skycrest. No matter what, she
couldn't let Sophia go to jail!
But after hearing Madeline's story, the famous lawyer, Ronan Eve, frowned. "Kidnapping and assault? Madeline, are you sure?
Has Sophia lost her mind? How could she do such a thing!"
"It's all a misunderstanding. Sophia was framed, Ronan. You're Sophia's uncle; you have to save her!"
Ronan, however, didn't quite believe Madeline's words and said coldly, "I'll look into it first. You should go home."
