Sweet Submission: Reclaiming Her Love

Chapter 15

Chapter 15 Coincidence
Corynn soon put her encounter with Amanda out of her mind. She went with Erick to a business dinner with
a few clients, the main purpose of the meeting being to introduce her to them.
At some point during the meal, the clients began to bring up their sons in the conversation. Erick politely
declined their efforts, saying that he already had a prospective son–in–law in mind.
Corynn ignored their idle chatter and only chimed in to handle questions directed at her, questions that
involved her work.
Everyone was quite tipsy toward the end of the dinner. Corynn helped her father to the nearest hotel so they
could spend the night there instead of driving home.
As they walked down the hallway, Erick kept boasting about securing a major contract during that business
meeting.
Corynn felt a mix of pride, amusement, and concern. Her father shouldn’t be drinking so much at his age, but
she also knew that it was unavoidable in social events, and she had to give him his well–deserved win.
She guided her father into his room and carefully tucked him to bed. Then she headed to her own room next
door. She had barely closed her father’s door behind her when she ran into Elliot.
Corynn’s first instinct was to flee, but she stopped herself.
She no longer had any relationship with Elliot, so why should she react to his presence. She was simply going
to her room to retire. He was irrelevant.

Corynn turned away from him and walked to the door booked under her name.
She took her card key from her pocket and tapped it on the door.

“Corynn?” Elliot called out from behind her, sounding a little dazed. He had thought she was an illusion, until she walked past him
and he caught a whiff of her familiar scent. “What are you doing here?”
Corynn pretended not to hear him and pushed her door open. She was about to go inside when she heard
another voice.
“Who are you talking to, Elliot?” Amanda asked from inside the room across from Corynn’s. She came out to the hall, and her
smile instantly vanished. “Miss Harper. Why are you here?”
She couldn’t believe Corynn was so eager to show up in front of Elliot. It hadn’t even been that long since she had warned the
woman!
If Corynn’s claim was true, if she didn’t love Elliot anymore, then what the hell was she doing here?
She must have been lying all along, just biding her time and waiting for the chance to pounce!
Amanda was glad that she didn’t believe Corynn’s words.

But it seemed that Corynn didn’t take her seriously, either.
As for Corynn, she had enough good humor left to find the situation amusing. Just how small could the world get for people who
didn’t want to meet? She had simply attended a business dinner–at a different establishment–booked a random hotel, and still
somehow ran into these two.

She couldn’t help but sigh. Maybe they were really destined to cross paths in one way or another. Although, a small part of her
did wonder if they had arranged this on purpose.
Corynn turned to look at them with a raised eyebrow. “Your questioning is ridiculous. Am I not allowed to go to business dinners
now?”

“Business dinner?” Amanda retorted sharply. “Then how come you ended up in the same hotel, on the same floor, and even right
across our room? Did you really think I would believe your pathetic excuse?”
“You can believe whatever you want, I don’t care!”
Amanda opened her mouth to say something more, but Corynn quickly got inside her room and shut the door in their faces. She
sighed again and rubbed her throbbing temples.
Of all the people she could encounter by coincidence, why did it have to be the two persons she didn’t want to see?
Corynn stayed at the hotel long enough to relax, then called the family driver to drive her home. She checked out on the same
night.
The thought of Elliot staying just a few meters away was extremely disconcerting, especially when he was with Amanda. Corynn
was certain that Amanda would choose to believe her own contrived illusions, anyway, deliberately misunderstanding a situation
that was perfectly black and white. Corynn wasn’t interested in putting up with that bullshit.
Thankfully, she didn’t run into either of them on her way out.
“Elliot, she is doing this on purpose!” Amanda complained as soon as Corynn had closed the door. She looked utterly aggrieved
and frustrated.
But Elliot didn’t even look at her, and his tone was as indifferent as ever. “Go back inside. Morris will be here soon.”
Morris Beasley was a foreign client of the Andrews Group, who had flown over for a meeting.
Amanda pouted as she watched Elliot return to their room. She glared at Corynn’s door for a moment longer.
It seemed that she had been too lenient. Otherwise, Corynn wouldn’t be this brazen.
In that case, Amanda wouldn’t hold back anymore.
