Chapter 1922
Colby stepped forward, pressing his pistol against Alec's chin, forcing him to look up. With a cold stare, he demanded, "Where are you from?"
The tension in the air was suffocating, leaving Alec struggling for breath. Was this really the legendary Devonport Colby from two decades ago?
Seeing Alec at a loss for words, I jumped in, "We're not with The Silent Shadows! We're... we're actually fans of yours!"
My dad gave me a look, one filled with a sternness I had never seen before, and it made me shrink back instinctively.
"High schoolers, huh? Those clothes are pretty out there."
Adler stepped closer, inspecting the fabric and style of our outfits. Jenna seemed intrigued, "Not bad, quite trendy. How did I miss this brand's new
Alec and I were wearing fall exclusives from a popular brand. Jenna clearly recognized it and circled around us, curious.
I quickly corrected, "We're not in high school. We’re college students."
"Oh yeah? Which college?"
"Eastwood College."
Upon hearing that, Adler glanced at Sophie, "Sophie, they're from your alma mater."
I remembered my mom had also graduated from Eastwood College, but that was about all I knew.
Sophie approached us, her gaze detached, "I'll give you one more chance. Why were you following us?"
"We..."
"A fight?"
Sophie chuckled at the thought. Adler and Jenna couldn’t help but laugh too, "So you tailed us all this way just for a fight, huh?"
"They say the four families are tough, and we wanted to see for ourselves."
As Alec finished, I felt like shaking my head. A fight? Aunt Jenna alone could handle us easily. What were we thinking?
"Not many know about The Silent Shadows. How do I know you two aren’t just pulling our leg?"
"I'm not, really... I just don’t know how to explain..."
"What kind of logic is that? Mr. Wesley, stop talking nonsense!"
My face went red. Adler looked surprised, pointing at himself, "Uncle? Do I look that old?"
I was speechless. Adler turned to Sophie, "Sophie, throw them to the sharks, for sure!"
"Alright, enough. They're just kids. Let them go."
Sophie gestured, and the bodyguards beside her untied the ropes binding Alec and me.
"Kids shouldn’t be out here. The docks aren't safe right now. Head back to school and keep out of trouble."
