Rejected No More: I Am Way Out Of Your League, Darling!

Chapter 1079

Chapter 1079:

Cedric was taken aback by Carol's change in attitude.

Carol shrugged. "I don't know you that well, but I've noticed Nina holds you in high regard-like family. And, well, Ryan and Lillian called me yesterday-told me to ease up on you."

Cedric offered a polite smile. "Appreciate it."

By the time Daniela returned, the conference room stood silent and deserted.

The only light in the office came from a dim desk lamp.

Carol glanced up. "Cedric dropped by with sushi-said he made it himself. And he waited for..." She checked the time. "Eight hours. Alexander was the second last to leave. He said he'd be back tomorrow."

Daniela barely reacted. Stepping into the office, her gaze landed on Cedric, still seated on the sofa.

The sushi box rested untouched on the table.

He sat upright, legs together, a picture of quiet patience as he waited. No phone in hand, no magazine, no distractions-nothing but stillness.

Bathed in the soft glow of the lamp, he simply waited for her.

In that moment, a distant, almost forgotten image flickered through Daniela's mind. It was as if she had seen this before-as if this wasn't the first time Cedric had waited for her like this.

It felt as though he had been waiting for her-not just tonight, but for years, steadfast and unwavering.

Daniela knew all too well the stubborn pride that men carried, especially someone as defiant as Cedric. Yet, even with his injury, he kept showing up, time and time again. The security guard had once mentioned that after Cedric hurt his leg, he barely left his home.

And yet here he was, ignoring the pain and dragging that injured leg just to see her. Cedric had a striking, effortless charm. Alexander might have altered his face to resemble Cedric's, but to Daniela, the two couldn't have been more different.

Alexander carried a sharp, calculating air-built for business. Cedric, on the other hand, was refreshingly unguarded. There was an openness in the way he looked at her, so sincere it stirred an unexpected ache in her chest.

At times, she wondered-how did someone this unguarded survive in a world as ruthless as business?

"You're back?" Cedric lifted his gaze as the door opened, a soft smile touching his lips.

"Yeah," Daniela answered. "Have you been waiting long?"

"Okay." Daniela had spent the day at a follow-up appointment. She always handled these appointments alone.

No one knew that the explosion had left her body damaged-that having children might never be an option. A part of her wanted to tell Cedric, but what was the point? He didn't need that weight on his shoulders. The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!
