Chapter 884
Strangely enough, ever since their divorce, Nadine's feelings for Brad had faded
more and more. Looking back at her past self, she realized just how foolish she
had been.
Love was just a small part of life, yet she had made it her entire world-revolving
around Brad as if he was the center of her universe. In the end, what had she
gained? Nothing but scars.
Nadine had let go of Brad and stopped chasing after him. Ironically, Brad was the
one who couldn't seem to leave her alone now.
Even though she kept her eyes closed, she wasn't asleep. Her mind was filled
with thoughts of Brad and their past. Comparing her past to her present, she realized just how much she preferred her current life.
While Brad's constant pursuit annoyed her, her life was fulfilling now. Every day, she spent her time learning, growing, and surrounding herself with people who were more accomplished than she was. She learned from them and kept
improving herself. She simply had no time for love anymore.
Avery's words turned out to be true. "Women can't just sit around. We need to
keep learning and enriching ourselves. Only when we become strong will we not
fear losing anything."
Nadine truly wasn't afraid of losing Brad now. She had become fearless, and it showed in the way she carried herself. Even though she was still the kindhearted woman she had always been, she now radiated strength and unwavering
confidence, her eyes as bright as the stars in the sky.
Brad looked at the woman who had her eyes closed beside him, his thoughts fixed on the present. Back then, Nadine was so in love with him, always putting him first and constantly revolving around him. He was her whole world. When did he become someone she no longer cared about?
Now, whenever he approached her, all he saw in her eyes was disgust—the
same
look he once had when he looked at her. The tables had turned, and he didn't like
it one bit.
He had no idea how she had endured those six years of neglect, but he knew
one
thing for certain: he hated the way her disdainful gaze made him feel. It infuriated
him.
Lost in his thoughts, Brad remained silent on their way to the restaurant. He didn't
say a word even after they were seated in a private dining room.
A waiter soon presented him with
the menu. Brad glanced at Nadine,
motioning for the waiter to pass it to
her instead. The sharply dressed waiter approached Nadine, pulled
out her chair for her, and handed her
the menu. "Ma'am, please place your
order."
Nadine only wanted to get this dinner over with so she could head home to Sean.
So, she ordered a few dishes based on her preferences and passed the menu to
Brad.
He had promised that she could leave if he enjoyed the meal. "Should I crack a
joke to make him laugh?" she wondered to herself.
While she was still hesitating, a slender figure approached them. "Hello, Mr.
Hamilton and Ms. Scott! Fancy seeing you two here!"
Zara had taken off her white coat
and was now dressed in a chic black
pencil skirt and a pale yellow tweed
jacket. Her hair was elegantly pinned
up, and her polished look exuded
sophistication.
Her alabaster skin shimmered under
the lights, and her smiling eyes
crinkled into charming crescents as she casually sipped from a wine
glass, standing beside Brad and
discreetly observing his expression.

Brad and Seraphina were acquaintances, so he didn't have any valid excuse to
decline. However, he still looked pissed.
