Leaving the cafe, Elysia felt depressed. Jim’s name kept popping up in her mind. She wondered what he had done to Evelyn,
and why his cufflink was found in Evelyn’s room.
Elysia frowned slightly, her grip tightening around the cufflink in her hand. She didn’t want to believe it, but Jim was at ruthless
man, not a good guy. She couldn’t help but believe it.
She thought of someone who might be the key to the problem.
The driver working for the Evans family had been waiting outside. He opened the car door when he saw her come out, but she
didn’t move. He didn’t know what happened to Elysia, and why she was standing there in a daze.
But he was just a driver. He didn’t dare to ask what Elysia was thinking, let alone rush her.
If Elysia wanted to stand there until it got dark, he would have to wait for her. He couldn’t complain.
Fortunately, Elysia finally reacted when he was thinking about it. When the driver looked up again, Elysia was standing before
him. Her voice came. “Get in the car and take me to K.L.. Capital.”
The driver nodded quickly. Once Elysia got into the car, he helped her close the door and took the driver’s seat.
The car started, and somehow the driver felt that the atmosphere in the car was a bit cold.
He glanced at Elysia, who was sitting in the back seat, through the rearview mirror. From her expression, he couldn’t figure out
anything different from usual.
Noticing the driver’s gaze, Elysia looked up at him. His heart skipped a beat and he quickly averted his eyes, a chill down his
back.
The driver thought, ‘Ms. Evans found I looked at her. What if she complains to Mr. Evans and he fires me?‘
“How long have you worked for the Evans family?” Elysia asked.
The driver’s heart sank. He thought, ‘Oh no. Ms. Evans must be angry!

Making up his mind, he suppressed his panic and said, “I came to the Evans residence when I was sixteen. It’s been five years.”
“Sixteen years old? Didn’t you go to school?” Elysia demanded.
“I’m an orphan. I’ve never seen my family and had always been wandering the streets. Ms. Evans, I used to fight dogs for food,”
the driver said sheepishly.
As if he worried that she might misunderstand, he quickly added, “Don’t worry, Ms. Evans. I’m an orphan, but I’m a good person.
That’s why Mr. Evans was willing to take me in.”

“You’re right. Since my dad took you in, it means you’re a good person.”
Hearing this, the driver gave a simple and honest smile.
“What’s your name?” Elysia asked.
“My name?” He was stunned for a moment before replying, “They all call me Dan.”
“Dan.” Elysia sized him up. He was in his early twenties with delicate features. She thought, ‘If he hadn’t been an
an, or if
he was lucky, perhaps he would be more than a driver. However, becoming a driver might be a blessing from heaven now.

That’s the way it has to be. No one’s life is destined to be smooth. There will always be people who suffer more than us
“Dan, since you came to the Evans residence when you were sixteen, what do you know about Evelyn?”
Elysia thought. When he was sixteen, Evelyn was thirteen. In other words, Evelyn passed away the year after he arrived. He was
eighteen that year.

“Evelyn?” Dan didn’t understand why Elysia suddenly mentioned Evelyn. Confused, he answered honestly. “I don’t know much,
but other servants said that Evelyn was weak and often stayed in her room. She would occasionally bask in the courtyard.
“When I just arrived at the Evans residence, I was an introvert, so I rarely saw Evelyn. Even when I saw her, I didn’t dare to look
up at her.
Elysia understood. She never expected to get any useful information out of him. She just asked casually out of curiosity. since he
was young and not sophisticated.
The car stopped in front of an office building as they spoke. Dan turned to look at her. “Ms. Evans, here we are.”
“Okay,” Elysia said.
Elysia had hardly opened the car door when Dan stopped her again. “Ms. Evans, a moment please.”
She looked at him suspiciously. Dan scratched the back of his head and said cautiously, “Um, Ms. Evans, you won’t tell Mr.
Evans about this, will you?”
“About what?”
“About me peeking at you through the rearview mirror earlier. I didn’t mean to. I just saw that you were upset.”
Elysia was speechless. She felt that this driver seemed unintelligent.
“Don’t worry. To make it clear, Elysia added, “I don’t know anything about this, understand?”

“Got it.”
“What if it happens again?”
“Happens again?” he asked and then immediately promised, “It will never happen again.”
Elysia thought, ‘How come you know now? Your mind finally works? Forget it. I have some important things to do.
Getting out of the car, she entered the office building and went to the reception. She saw a girl and said, “I want to see your
manager, Lindsey Evans. Could you please contact her for me?”
“Hello, Miss. Do you have an appointment?” the girl asked.

“Not yet,” said Elysia.
“Sorry, you can’t see Ms. Evans without an appointment.”
“Okay, wait a minute. I’ll make an appointment now.”
The girl at the reception looked suspicious and thought, ‘She must be joking. Ms. Evans has a lot of work to do. How could she
make an appointment as she wishes?‘
She looked at Elysia with amusement. Elysia dialed a number and said, “Ms. Evans, I’m here to see you, but the reception said I
need to make an appointment first.”

Then Elysia looked at the girl watching her significantly. “Okay, thank you, Ms. Evans.”
Elysia hung up the phone, and the playful expression on the girl’s face didn’t fade in the slightest. She looked triumphant.
She was about to say something to send Elysia away when the phone on the desk rang. She picked it up with a confused look
on her face. After hearing what Lindsey said to her, she looked at Elysia with shock in her eyes.
“Okay, Ms. Evans.” Then the girl hung up the phone. When she looked at Elysia again, her attitude had completely changed.
“Miss, you can go up now. Ms. Evans said that she was waiting for you upstairs.”
“Thank you.” A wicked smile curved Elysia’s lips, and she walked away.
The girl at the reception was dumbfounded. She thought, “The woman is pretty, but she looks like a student. I never thought that
Mr. Evans would make time to see her. I didn’t offend her just now, I guess?‘
She suddenly remembered the smile on Elysia’s face before she left, feeling chills down her back. It was scary.

Elysia made her way to the office on the top floor and knocked on the glass door. Lindsey looked back at her, her face full of
smiles. “Elysia, come in.”
“Lindsey.” Elysia smiled lightly. Lindsey glared at her. “Why didn’t you call me Lindsey just now?”
“Just now? I guess I was using your power to intimidate your employee.”
Lindsey’s smile faded. “Did my employee give you a hard time? Just tell me, and I’ll deal with it.”
