Chapter 855
Chapter 855
The caller was Sinclair.
It seemed he had seen her message because he immediately answered the phone, "Hey, Uncle, you want to help me move? Not
right now, I'm at work, attending to a very important patient..."
Sinclair could immediately tell she was bluffing, so he cut straight to the chase, "Is your mom there?"
"Wow, Uncle, you're sharp! How'd you guess your dear sister is here? She's feeling pretty awful, complaining about every little
thing. And when I suggested some tests, she accused me of being heartless... Hey, don't grab my phone...' Fanny dodged as her
mom, Joie, tried to snatch the phone.
But it was all for show, and Joie managed to grab the phone anyway. She brought it to her ear, "Hello, Sinclair."
"Sis, Fanny says you're not feeling well?" Sinclair's voice was smooth and reassuring.
Joie cleared her throat and gave Fanny a look, "I'm fine, just a bit worked up. If she doesn't agree to come home, I'm not
"Sis, Fanny agreed to move in with me. My place is close to her hospital, so it'll be convenient for her commute," Sinclair calmly
explained, spinning a believable yarn.
"She really agreed?" Joie was skeptical.
"Yep, I'm planning to help her move after her shift. I thought maybe once she's settled in, you and brother-in-law could come over
for dinner," Sinclair suggested smoothly.
"No need for dinner. Fanny staying with you is good news. It gives us peace of mind knowing you're around, and it's easier for
her," Joie said, her anger dissipating into a gentle smile.
"And this way, you and brother-in-law can enjoy your couple time," Sinclair teased lightly.
"You cheeky thing," Joie chuckled, glancing at Fanny. "Here, you talk to her."
"Alright, you should head back. It's not ideal to be here while she's working," Sinclair gently advised.
"If you had told me earlier that she agreed to move, I wouldn't have made such a fuss," Joie playfully scolded him.
She handed the phone back to Fanny.
"So, are you moving or not?" Sinclair asked from the other end.
With her back against the wall, she had no choice. "I'll move after my shift. Thanks for the help, Uncle."
"Great," Sinclair replied before hanging up.
Fanny waved her phone, "Satisfied now, Ms. Perez?"
Joie gave her a playful glare, "We never deprived you of anything, so why's it so hard to come home? Remember, Sinclair's
place is temporary. Once he has a girlfriend, you'll need to find somewhere else."
"I know, but staying with Uncle is more convenient than coming home right now," Fanny rationalized, even daring to tease her
mom, "Maybe you and Mr. Willis could consider buying a place near my hospital?"
With their financial means, they could afford it, but her parents had lived in their current home for øver
twenty years and were deeply entrenched in their community.
Besides, properties near the hospital were exorbitantly priced, probably costing
them a significant chunk of their savings.
Her mom had a penchant for saving money and was as protective of it as a dragon with its hoard.
"You won't trick me into that," Joie wagged a finger at her, and Fanny dodged playfully.
After a minute of their playful banter, Fanny got serious again, "Mom, you should head back. I've got a lot of patients to see."
"We're not leaving. We'll go wait at your uncle's," Joie declared, causing Fanny's heart to sink.
Great, now there's no escaping it. Her parents were going to play watchdogs.
