Love That Wasn't Meant to Last

Chapter 31

Chapter 31
Selena's back was no longer as smooth and delicate as I remembered-it was now marred by various scars, both old and new.
Upon seeing the deep, crusted scars, I felt my heart sink with surprise and heaviness. I walked over and reached out to touch
her back. She gasped, turned her head, and after seeing me, her expression shifted to a smile.
"Hud, why didn't you say anything before you touched me? It tickles!"
I didn't respond and simply looked into her eyes, realizing she was unaware of the scars on her back.
Noticing I was still dressed, she stood on her tiptoes and began to undo my buttons. I frowned, but remembering my promise to
take a couple's bath, I reluctantly allowed her to undress me.

Her hands lingered on my body, igniting a heat within me. If I didn't stop this soon,
I feared the situation would spiral out of control.
I had a girlfriend; even if the only people who knew about this were Selena and me, I couldn't betray Sylvia. I grabbed Selena's
hands, looking firmly into her eyes.
"Selena, we're just here to shower. If you have any other ideas, I'll walk out right now."
Disappointment flickered in her eyes as she let out an annoyed huff and pulled away from my hand away forcefully. She stepped
into the tub, turned on the water, and began washing with soap without glancing at me again.
Feeling helpless, I walked over and began to scrub her back. Despite the scars, her skin remained soft and supple.
To help her relax, I had learned some massage techniques in the past to ease her fatigue, so I spent about half an hour giving
her a massage while she soaked in the warm water. She soon relaxed and fell asleep.
Seeing she was unresponsive, I tested her a few times before finally feeling relieved that she was genuinely asleep. I lifted her
out of the tub, dried her off with a towel, and changed her into a fresh hospital gown on the bed.
Once that was done, I hurriedly took a cold shower to cool off and calm my racing heart.

While looking at myself in the mirror, I was engulfed in confusion. If I had gotten intimate with Selena during this bath, would it
alter our relationship? Would I start to reconsider getting back together with her? But if I remarried her, what would happen to
Sylvia?
Fortunately, during the bath, I managed to maintain my composure and moral restraint. Nothing inappropriate had occurred
between us.
As I exited the bathroom, I noticed a fresh set of men's clothes laid out on the bed. After a moment of hesitation, I decided to put
them on.
I glanced at the sleeping Selena and then at the bell on the bedside table. After some thought, I chose to ring it. Sure enough, a
few seconds after the bell rang, the door creaked open, and a staff member appeared.
Seeing Selena asleep in bed, they initially looked worried, but I stopped them before they could approach.
I kept my expression neutral as I addressed them, "I rang the bell myself. I have one request. Please get Zion here. I need to ask
him something."
