Love Beyond the Mask by Adelaide Sinclair

Chapter 1192

Chapter 1192
"To me, she's already locked up for life. Why would I bother getting her killed in prison and risk getting myself tangled up in a
mess?"
"So, Mrs. Sheldon, if you'd just use your head for a second, you'd see there's no way Ludwik or I could be the killer!"
Emma's brow furrowed, obviously unimpressed by Whitney's bluntness. "Setting aside whether you're a suspect or not, you
clearly have no respect for your elders. You don't even call me 'Grandma'-so don't blame me for doubting you."
"Oh, for heaven's sake, give it a rest, old woman!" Jared finally snapped, unable to hold back anymore.
Sure, Florence's death was a tragedy, and it pained him too. But, honestly, this family had only just started to settle down. Jared
could see that his son, Hudson, was looking to retire any day now, and the Sheldon Group had nearly gone under several times
—each time, it was Ludwik who helped Whitney save it.
Now, Whitney was the rising star. Sooner or later, the whole Sheldon legacy would probably end up in her hands. The old man

might not be thrilled about it, but there was no one else to count on-especially since Whitney's mother, Parisa, had become such
a powerful figure.
Emma, on the other hand, was just too proud to see the truth.
"Are you yelling at me too, Jared? Am I wrong? Just look at the way she treats me. Is that how a granddaughter behaves? She's
nothing like Florence, who knew how to sweet-talk her way into everyone's heart.....”
Emma grumbled, eyeing Whitney with clear disapproval. She could never warm up to Whitney-she wasn't soft or likable like
Florence, just cold, just like her mother, Parisa.
Whitney pretended not to hear any of it. Honestly, she'd stopped caring about Emma's opinion long ago. That woman had ruined
her mother's life; she was no saint. If it weren't for Hudson-her father-Whitney wouldn't have bothered with any of these people.
But she hadn't come here to argue with Emma.
Whitney's face stayed cool, her voice even as she replied, "If you treated me like family, I'd call you Grandma. But Florence's
crimes are an open secret-you know

it as well as I do. Ever since Ludwik came along, Florence never stopped scheming. She even stole the embryo I was carrying

so she could get pregnant herself. Did you know that?"
The room went silent. Holly looked suddenly nervous, and Mrs. Sheldon was clearly stunned. Even Sienna's jaw dropped.
"What are you saying?" Emma stammered.
"I'm saying the child Florence was carrying wasn't conceived naturally with Ludwik. She stole my embryo. And that's not all-she
later teamed up with Hugh to poison my father. Have you forgotten?"
Whitney's voice was icy and deliberate. "Florence should have been punished long ago, but then she went to Germany and
tricked my mom-murdered her, just
to steal her billions and take over one of the world's best companies."
"There's no forgiveness for a mother's killer. Mrs. Sheldon, do you really think Florence wasn't evil?"
"Arresting her was the right thing to do. If anyone wanted her dead, it was Bryce- he was already planning to silence her the
moment she was taken in."
Whitney turned to the police, not wasting another breath. "Go ahead and find the real killer in the prison. And let Ludwik know—
we might still need that puppet around."
She shot Holly a cold look. "And as for Florence's body, after the autopsy confirms the cause of death, you can do whatever you
want with her remains."
"Why should Florence's body be cut up? Let her rest in peace!" Holly shouted bitterly, trying to get Emma on her side. "Whitney,
you're just torturing her even after death. You'll pay for this!"
Whitney just nodded at the officers. "If anyone tries to stop you from doing your job, arrest them, too."
