Chapter 37
Shelley boldly pulled a chair and sat down beside Angela. Resting her chin on her palm, she gazed at her with a half–smile.
Elena, naturally, was right behind Shelley.
“Didn’t expect you to have an interest in art, Ms. Graham,” Elena commented with a smile as she sat on Angela’s left.
Elena wore a chic black–and–white ensemble that day. The buttons were made of lustrous pearls, catching the light in a subtle shine.
The fitted, mermaid dress perfectly accentuated her figure, and her brown curls added to her striking femininity.
Together, she and Shelley flanked Angela on both sides.
Angela locked her phone and sighed inwardly.
“I didn’t know you joined the competition too, Ms. Carrey,” she replied casually as she looked at Elena. After all, she hadn’t seen Elena at the
competition when it had been first held.
Shelley couldn’t hide her smug smile. “Elena was specially invited by the organizers to participate online. A fool like you, who only knows how to work
hard, can’t be compared to her.”
“How dare you, Angela? Do you know that Dexter sponsored this competition? Of course Elena’s going to win.” Shelley sneered as she stood up.
“Let’s go, Elena. She’s just going to embarrass herself later. I don’t want to be seen with her.”
“Ms. Graham, you might not know, but today’s award presenter is Dexter.” Elena put on a sly smile.
Angela froze for a moment. It was Dexter again.
the “Why even bother telling her that? With her skills, she’s probably just here to make up numbers. Can you imagine what Dexter’s reaction would
be when he sees her? He’ll be furious for sure.” Shelley turned to shoot Angela a mocking glance as she spoke.
“Dexter’s mind is far beyond our understanding,” Elena said.
Just then, Dexter entered the venue through the back door.

The moment he entered, his gaze immediately found Angela, who was sitting alone in the corner. Without hesitation, he walked toward her and
pulled her outside.
“What are you doing?” Angela pulled away from him and rubbed her wrist where he’d gripped it too tightly.
Dexter’s voice was leily stern. “You can embarrass yourself online all you want, but not here. People know you. Don’t make me look bad”
When he arrived, he’d overheard people gossiping about Angela–how she was out of her depth and clueless about design, yet she’d dared to
participate in the competition.
“This is a public space, Dexter, I don’t want to argue with you here.” Angela forced down her anger and turned away to walk in the opposite direction.
But Dexter blocked her path. “If you don’t leave, I’ll drag you out myself!”
Just then, Elena returned, followed by the ever–curious Shelley.
“What’s going on, Dexter?” Elena returned, with Shelley trailing behind her.
“Mr. Bamford, maybe you should let Ms. Graham go for now. I’ve heard she has a bit of a knack for design. Even if she didn’t win, it’s the participation
that counts.” Shelley smiled at Angela, but her eyes were filled with clear mockery.
“Exactly. There are so many people here. Do you really want them gossiping about Ms. Graham?” Elena added in a lowered voice as she stepped
closer to Dexter.
Their proximity made it appear as though they were nearly touching, but Elena seemed oblivious.
