Chapter 880
Chapter 880
But Dailey's path was different from Gregory's.
He couldn't be as reckless as Gregory.
After all, Gregory had gone through numerous persecutions before reaching
where he was today.
Dailey could choose a safer route; there was no need to take risks.
He was, after all, her only son.
"I'll go greet the guests. You all chat with Dailey," Jayne said, taking her leave.
Gregory nodded, watching Jayne walk away. He approached Dailey, clinking his glass against Dailey's.
"Congratulations, birthday boy, another year older."
Dailey shot him a sidelong glance. "We're the same age."
"Not quite. A few months younger, so I age slower than you," Gregory quipped.
Dailey had more guests to attend to and paid him no mind. Gregory then led Jane to the lounge area for a short break and
offered her some favorite snacks.
After a few drinks, Jane needed to use the restroom. Gregory accompanied her.
Suddenly, a flash of white caught his eye around the corner.
He remembered that Libby was wearing a white dress tonight.
"What are you looking at?" Jane asked.
Gregory held her hand and quickly descended the stairs.
He instructed Lucius to check the surveillance footage.
They had been through too much; their instincts were always sharper than others.
The footage showed Dailey entering a room, followed shortly by Libby.
"This isn't good," Jane remarked, sharing Gregory's concern.
They hurried to the fifth-floor room, with Quinn and the others not far behind.
But they were a step behind Jayne.
When they arrived, Jayne was already scolding Dailey.
"We were supposed to form an alliance with the Carters. Today's meeting was just
to get acquainted and build rapport. What's the rush?"
Gregory glanced at his watch.
From the moment he saw the white dress ascend the stairs to his arrival, less than ten minutes had passed.
Not enough time for anything substantial to happen.
Jayne didn't intend for anything to truly occur, just to spread news of Dailey's and Libby's supposed engagement.
Reaching this point meant they understood that pushing Dailey too far wouldn't benefit them either.
Dailey said nothing.
Seeing Gregory, he stood up and walked over.
Noting Dailey's pale complexion, Gregory instructed Quinn to take him to the hospital immediately.
He and Jane followed in the car.
On the way, Jane mentioned, "I glimpsed Libby inside earlier."
Gregory raised an eyebrow. "It was all staged; Libby's presence there is expected."
"No," Jane shook her head, "when
first saw her in the ballroom,

"But just now, I saw her with a triumphant smile."
Gregory held her close, "You said it yourself, she has feelings for Dailey. Marrying him would naturally make her pleased."
Jane felt a tinge of relief.
She knew that Jayne had likely orchestrated this evening's events.
Without her help, Dailey might not have fallen for the trap.
So perhaps it was for the best that someone as fortunate as Christine didn't join
the Clarkson family.
Christine had planned to go to

Following that was the announcement of his upcoming marriage to the Carters' daughter.
Yet she didn't delve further; Dailey's future was no longer her concern.
Still, there was a slight bitterness in her heart.
Perhaps it was disdain for his seamless transition.
Setting her phone aside, she indulged in a relaxing bath.
After her nighttime skincare routine, she slipped into bed, feeling fresh and content.
But sleep eluded her.
She tossed and turned until dawn...
