Chapter 190
Chapter 190
She just wished me a pleasant weekend?
What made her think I should have a pleasant weekend?
His long, slender fingers pressed against the pages of his book. His eyes were deep, and his expression thoughtful.
Gary walked inside with the boxes of medicine, sighing, “Ah, when you get old, you get sick for no reason.
The next morning.
Sherry and I hit the road at 7 a.m. For our safety, she’d recruited her brother–a sports school student on summer break–as our
escort.
I eyed the towering yet puppy–eyed teen and shot Sherry a look: Don’t you think we look like two rich ladies hiring a boytoy?
“Safety first!” she mouthed, reading my mind.
That was a fair point. We might be going into the mountains and countryside, and rural
investigations always carried risks. Though
young, Stuart’s broad shoulders radiated dependable energy.
“Fine.” I tossed Stuart the keys, sweetening the deal:“Pick any gift you want after this.”
Stuart’s handsome face flushed
slightly.“Don’t say that, Olivia. I’m really glad to be of your service.”
Sherry kicked his shin.“Come on, load the trunk. Drive carefully.” With that, she put on her sunglasses and went to the back seat.
Stuart helped me with my luggage.
young man chatting and laughing as they got into a
car.
Olivia has a boyfriend? And he seems... very young!
He watched their car drive away before getting out of his own.
Zach glanced up from his tablet as Gary
15:22
stormed in. “Why the long face? Market
crash?”
“Hey, don’t you jinx my portfolio!” The steward dumped groceries, leaning in conspiratorially.“Do you know Olivia’s seeing
someone? Some baby–faced university boy!”
“What?!”
Zach was shocked.“I don’t! When did this
happen?”
Gary nodded knowingly.“She kept it very
secret.”
He quickly told Zach what he had seen in the parking garage.“That young man is quite handsome, he looks like a college
student, quite tall and delicate. He smiles shyly, and his eyes shine brightly when he looks at Olivia.”
“A college student! Olivia actually likes that type!” That explains why she doesn’t like Mr. Jones. It makes sense; she must have
had enough of his mind games and temper. She’s seen too many difficult men, it’s natural for
who can make her happy. She’s not short of
money anyway.
Gary sighed, and then, as if remembering something, he reminded, “Not a word to Mr.
Jones.”
Zach gave a knowing look.
“My lips are sealed.” Zach mimed zipping his mouth. If Mr. Jones knew about it, with his temper, Olivia would be doomed.
Footsteps approached. Evan emerged from the direction of the bedroom, dressed in a casual black suit. Among all colors, black
best accentuated his coldly handsome features,
making him strikingly captivating.
“What are you two discussing so animatedly?”
Gary and Zach turned their heads in unison, staring at their young boss–whose
appearance ranged from attractive to
breathtakingly perfect–and thought to themselves: Sigh, he actually lost to a young boy! We refuse to accept this!
I sneezed in the car.
Shortly after Olivia’s departure, Evan also set
out with Zach and Gary.
The drive lasted three hours.
Halfway through the journey, Zach realized realized he still had no idea about the day’s itinerary a rare occurrence, as the CEO
usually briefed him in advance. Is this because of the date? Does he not need me to handle anything?
He decided to ask.
Turning around, he tentatively inquired, “Sir, should I arrange a restaurant reservation
later? What kind of cuisine does Miss White
prefer?”
