If only he loved me too
"come in, " I close the door after him, he looks out of place in my apartment, which reminds me of the first day we met.
He smiled politely "nice house, it would have been easier to find you if you didn't ghost me, " he says accusation clear in his eyes.
I was my hand in defense, we sat on the couch side by side " guilty, I'm just trying to move on, you know to find myself, " he smiled sadly at me, he
knows that the pity is the last thing I need even from him.
"Enough about me, tell me about you? How are you? And how's your boyfriend Pete?" I ask standing up to get some coffee, but my pot of empty so I
put it out to brew a fresh one.
He followed me into the kitchen, " I've been better, life's good and Pete is not my boyfriend anymore, " I stopped what I was doing and watch him
carefully trying to gauge the meeting behind his words.
I hold the coffee pot "should I get a beer instead?" I ask walking. Towards my refrigerator and showing him my new found stock of alcoholic
beverages and he laughs, he loses up a little, he was all stiff and careful with his words with me but now, he feels comfortable.
"No, no he is not my boyfriend anymore because" he raised his left hand and showed me his ring "he is now my fiancee, " I keep the pot of coffee on
the counter and squeak excitedly as a teenager who's friend got asked to prom by their childhood crush.
"Oh my god, seriously" I jump on him into a fierce hug "I'm so happy for you" we laugh as he swings me around, we stop before anyone of us falls,
break our necks and die, that can wait till he gets married.
"Yeah, I'm happy for myself, too," he said smiling lovingly looking at his finger, I smile too happy for him, he deserved it, after fighting his family on this
topic he has finally won this war, or at least nearly won.
"Tell me everything, " I say as I pull him towards the couch with coffee cups in our hands, "who proposed who? "
