Lily instinctively stood up but froze mid-motion when she recognized Terence. She had not idea Terence was the president of
Lupier.
"Ms. Joyner, please, have a seat," Terence said as he took the main chair, treating her with professional courtesy as if they were
strangers. The other interviewers settled into chairs around him.
Lily's resume was easy to assess. Each interviewer, starting with Terence, asked standard questions about design philosophy.
While she answered most confidently, she stumbled when the last interviewer brought up this year's trending design styles.
Having been consumed with Xavier, she had not kept up with recent design trends and could not properly compare this year's
"That's all," Terence concluded, tapping his fingers on the table.
The receptionist promptly entered to escort Lily out. After politely saying goodbye to the interviewers, Lily followed her to the
elevator.
"We'll notify you of the results by phone within two business days," the receptionist explained.
Lily gave her a grateful smile. "Thank you.".
Before stepping into the elevator, she glanced back at the office where the interviewers remained, likely discussing her
candidacy. Though surprised by Terence's presence, she did not want to use their connection to influence the decision.
Just as she left the building, she received a text from Xavier saying he would be working late and asking her to have dinner
ready.
It was unusual for Xavier to notify her about working late. Nonetheless, Lily would surely go back and prepare dinner as told.
After all, Hayden's situation still was not resolved.
Back in the Lupier office, Terence's suggestion to hire Lily met resistance from half the panel. "Mr. Devereux, while she has
potential, many recent graduates are more current with design trends," one argued.
Another added, "Her award-winning final project might make her too proud to work as an assistant designer."
"I found Ms. Joyner quite humble-she might surprise us," lan Connor countered.
Though opinions were divided, the final decision rested with Terence.
After a moment's silence, Terence declared, "I agree with Mr. Connor's assessment."

As the president, no one dared contradict his decision. That evening, while Lily chicken soup, Lupier's human resource
department called with the news.
'Ms. Joyner, please report to the Design Department next Monday."
Lily nearly dropped her porcelain spoon in excitement. "Alright. Thank you so much!"
"Welcome to Lupler. We look forward to having you join us," the representative replied warmly.
"I'm just as excited to join Lupier!" As Lily expressed her enthusiasm for joining the company, the soup bubbled in the pot. The
steam rose while her phone's screen darkened, reflecting her dimpled smile. "What shady organization did you join that's making
you so happy?" Xavier's sudden voice behind her made Lily jump, causing her to drop the spoon, which shattered on the floor.
