Chapter 2 , Wrong Room!
No, I was forced to do this! Caroline screamed internally. Caroline had no way to resist. She didn’t even have the strength to get
out of bed, let alone push the man off her. That night, she was tormented, tossed, and turned around, all the way until the early
hours of the morning. By then, the man was completely exhausted and fell into a deep sleep. When there was no more noise
coming from inside the room, the men who stood guard outside finally entered. They lifted Caroline and carried her away. They
had to get her back to the Ellison residence before dawn! Not long after, the sky began to brighten up. Suddenly, a loud shout
came from the room next door. “Why is it empty in here? Why is the bed still made? Where’s Mr. David?” The familiar voice woke
the man, who furrowed his brow and slowly opened his eyes. “Here,” he said as he opened the door, still half naked. Outside, his
was an exceptionally handsome man, he had high cheekbones, sharp eyebrows, and piercing eyes. There was an air of
authority about the way he moved his eyes and gestured his hands, he was an intimidating man, to say the least! “You’ve gone
to the wrong room!” William said with a startled voice, “Mr. David, your room is next door!” David’s expression shifted as he
examined the room numbers. It’s true! I got the wrong room! So the woman whom I was so rough with last night... Was not the
woman arranged by William! No wonder she had refused and told him “no.” David had thought she was playing hard to get, but
now he realized that she was innocent! “Mr. David, then... The drug you took last night... Did it work?” William asked cautiously.
“It worked.” “But...” William was confused. The woman he’d arranged for David was in the next room. How did the drug work?
Was there a woman in this room too? “Find out who stayed in this room last night,” ordered David. “Make sure to find her, quick!”
“Yes, sir.” “Prepare the car, we’re going back to the house.” David took large steps as he left the hotel through a secret passage.
He couldn’t stay for long, as he needed to return to his house so that he could continue pretending to be dead. But he couldn’t
keep up the act much longer. It was time to act. The Ellison family was the real deal, it was one of the wealthiest and most
prestigious families in the world. Although the family looked flashy from the outside, it was actually filled with power struggles and
backstabbing behind the scenes. After years of infighting, someone had finally poisoned David in an attempt to kill him! So,
David had played along. He had secretly swapped the poison for another drug, it weakened his heartbeat and created the
illusion of brain death, just to fool everyone. However, this drug contained ingredients that required a woman’s presence to
activate. It was actually not a big deal for David, but he had made the mistake of walking into the wrong room at the last minute.
At the Ellison residence. David stood by his bed. He quickly changed into a hospital gown and put on a breathing mask with
practiced ease. Just as he was about to lie down, the door suddenly opened without warning! Caroline, who was exhausted and
sore, entered the room. She had planned to take a bath, but the bathroom door in the master bedroom was broken and wouldn’t
open. So, she went next door to use the other bathroom. But when she looked up, she was met with a pair of deep black eyes,
dark enough to seem like they could swallow her whole. She froze as she stared at the man’s handsome face, her eyes were
wide open in shock. “David, you... you’re awake?”
