From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent

Chapter 537

Chapter 537
Sherman fiddled with his cross pendant and shot Hector a sidelong glance. "What are you getting so worked up about? It's not
like you're going on a blind date."
Looking at Hector, all dressed up and trying to look suave, Sherman suddenly regretted setting him up to meet Anthea. He
couldn't really explain why. Maybe it was just a knot in his chest that wouldn't go away.
Hector, meanwhile, was buzzing with excitement. "But she's my idol! I have to make a good impression, don't I? Sherman, be
honest-how do I look?"
Sherman gave him a slow once-over, lips quirking in a smirk. “Honestly? Not great. You look like you just rolled out of bed. And
did you even wash your hair last night? I can see dandruff from here."
Hector's face fell. "Dude, don't mess with me!"
"I never lie," Sherman replied, counting his rosary beads with an air of finality.
Hector looked like he was about to bolt back and wash his hair, but there was no time. He slumped, thoroughly dejected. If only
he'd gotten up earlier and showered.
Just then, the low growl of a black Ferrari echoed down the street, drawing closer.
"She's here," Sherman said quietly.
"My idol's here?" Hector's eyes lit up.

Sherman nodded slightly.
As they spoke, the Ferrari glided to a stop right in front of them. The car door swung open, and the first thing they saw was a
long leg in combat boots. Their gaze traveled upward: a black tee with a fringe hem, revealing a glimpse of a slender, pale waist
beneath the swaying tassels.
It was hard not to wonder what was hidden behind that fringe.
Her face, delicate and small, was mostly obscured by a pair of dark sunglasses, leaving only the sharp lines of her jaw and high-
bridged nose visible.

She radiated a cool, commanding presence-utterly magnetic.
Anthea slid off her sunglasses, revealing striking eyes that seemed to draw the light around them. "You two are early," she said,
her voice effortlessly captivating.
Truth was, Anthea had shown up ten minutes ahead of schedule. But somehow, Sherman and Hector had beaten her here.
Hector had seen Anthea on security footage before. He'd already thought she was breathtaking on camera. In person, though,
she was on a whole different level— words couldn't even begin to describe it.
Sherman, still twirling his cross, said, "We just got here too. Right, let me introduce you. This is Hector-the one I told you about."
Anthea extended her hand with an easy confidence. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Hector."
Hector blinked, momentarily stunned, before finally shaking her hand. "It's so great to meet you! I can't believe I'm meeting you in
person!"
He was so starstruck he could barely get a coherent sentence out.

Sherman frowned slightly as he watched their hands clasp. His regret about introducing Hector to Anthea only deepened. What
had he been thinking? He must have lost his mind.
Trying to shake it off, Sherman turned to Anthea. "Shall we get started?"
Anthea nodded. "Let's use this spot as our starting line, and the intersection at Epiphany Avenue as the finish. Sound good?"
Sherman had no objections.
Hector, of course, had even less-how could he argue with his idol?
Anthea glanced at her phone. "It's 10:20 now. We'll head out at 10:22."
Sherman nodded. "Sounds good."
Hector glanced at her phone and did a double take. Her phone case was identical to Sherman's.
Whoa.

There was definitely something going on between these two. No question about it.
His eyes darted between them, his excitement barely contained. Now that he looked closely, Sherman and Anthea really did
seem perfect for each other-a match made in heaven.
At 10:22 sharp, the sports cars idling at the curb suddenly roared to life and shot forward.
Hector surged ahead, Sherman close on his tail, while Anthea's Ferrari lagged behind.
Glancing in his rearview mirror,
Hector frowned. Why was his idol
falling behind? Was she not feeling well? Or maybe she was holding back, ready to make a dramatic comeback later?
Yeah, that had to be it.
Just then, a Lamborghini shot past Hector with a thunderous roar.
He recognized it immediately-Sherman's car!
Hector floored it, trying to catch up, but Anthea's Ferrari still made no move to accelerate.
