From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent

Chapter 521

Daniel's brow furrowed as a cold realization hit him.
Sherman.
Of course this had Sherman written all over it.
As the largest shareholder of the Robinson Group, Sherman would never let Jake make such a drastic move unless it was his
own idea. Only Sherman had that kind of authority. And only Sherman could be this ruthless.
But why? Daniel knew Sherman liked Rebecca. Why, then, would he do something so cruel? If you care about someone, aren't
you supposed to protect them? With the way Sherman was hurting Rebecca, how could he expect her to ever forgive him?
Agitated and unable to sit still, Daniel headed straight for the Christensen Group.
He strode into Sherman's office, his voice sharp. "Sherman, was it you who told my father to remove me from my position?"
Sherman, unfazed, turned the cross in his hands and gave a simple nod. "Yes."
Daniel felt his frustration rising. "Why, Sherman? Do you realize the Morris Group is on the verge of bankruptcy? Are you really
just going to stand by and watch Ms. Morris lose everything?"
Sherman continued to turn the cross between his fingers, his tone icy. "What does the Morris family's bankruptcy have to do with
me?"
Daniel clenched his jaw. "I'm still the general manager of the Robinson Group. How could you just have me removed without so
much as a warning?"
If word of this got out, how could he show his face again?

Sherman finally looked up, his gaze sharp as a blade. "Since when do you get to question my decisions?" The weight in
Sherman's eyes made Daniel's heart skip a beat.
Cowled, Daniel's tone softened as he pleaded, "Sherman, please—just reinstate me. The Morris family can't go under. If you let
this happen, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"
He was trying to help Sherman, but Sherman didn't seem to care-in fact, he looked even more annoyed. Daniel was left feeling
like a fool, caught in the middle, humiliated on all sides.

They say when God closes a door, He opens a window. Sherman was living proof that sometimes He just shuts both.
How could Sherman fail to see how wonderful Rebecca was? It was as if he were blind.
Sherman's expression darkened, his anger barely contained. "You've let yourself be played by a woman to this extent? Calling
you as dumb as a rock would be an insult to rocks. You're twenty-eight, not eight!"
Sherman rarely lost his temper, but now the silence in the room was suffocating. Daniel didn't dare utter another word.
Sherman's voice cut through the tension. "You're Mr. Robinson's only son. He's pinned all his hopes on you. Can't you show your
father you're worth it? If you let him down completely, there'll be no coming back from it."
Daniel hung his head, silent and defeated.
Sherman narrowed his eyes. "Go home. Think long and hard about what you've done. When you've truly reflected, maybe I'll
consider restoring your position."
Daniel turned and left the office.
As he watched Daniel's retreating back, Sherman pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
At first, he'd thought Daniel was just naïve, too trusting. Now he realized Daniel was simply hopeless.
After leaving the Christensen Group,

Daniel didn't go home. Instead, he
headed to the bank, planning to transfer a large sum from his personal account to the Morris Group. He couldn't just standby and
watch them collapse-not after he'd promised Rebecca.
He took a seat at the VIP window. The teller looked up at him. "Mr. Robinson, how much would you like to transfer?"
"Start with one billion," Daniel replied. That should be enough to keep the Morris Group afloat for now. As long as he could get
them through this crisis, they'd have a fighting chance.
"Very well, sir."

A couple of minutes later, the teller glanced up, her expression uneasy. "I'm sorry, Mr. Robinson, but your account has been
frozen. There's nothing we can transfer."
"What?" Daniel stared at her in disbelief.
She repeated the explanation, her tone apologetic.
Daniel's brows knit together. This was not what he'd expected. He hadn't thought Sherman would go this far-he'd even frozen
Daniel's personal accounts.
What was he supposed to do now?
Daniel left the bank in a daze.
He couldn't stop thinking about Rebecca-her tear-stained face flashed before his
eyes, and his heart twisted in pain. How could he let her down like this?
In desperation, Daniel started calling his wealthy friends, hoping someone would lend him money. But the moment he mentioned
needing a loan, every last one of them made up some excuse and hung up.
It was obvious-Sherman had gotten to them first. And when Mr. Christensen
gave an order, who would dare defy him?
Frustrated beyond words, Daniel nearly threw his phone at the wall.
Meanwhile, at the Morris family home, Daly had been waiting anxiously for news of Daniel's investment. But as the hours ticked
by with no word, and as Revenue House continued to threaten them, Daty finally picked up the phone and called Rebecca.
