From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent

Chapter 511

Chapter 511
Anthea frowned slightly. "So, did Lorraine ever find Ivy's Place in the end?"
"No," Sherman replied, shaking his head. "Lorraine waited here for over thirty years, but her child vanished as if they'd never
existed."
The two of them were deep in conversation, and the driver, sensing their focus, slowed the car to give them more time.
...
Rebecca was falling apart.
It had been fourteen hours since she'd left Tech Summit Global, and the system still wasn't responding.
Had it really disappeared?
What was she supposed to do now?
She sat slumped on the couch, fingers tangled in her hair, her features twisted in distress, looking every bit like someone on the
edge of a breakdown.
It took a long time before she finally calmed herself enough to breathe. She
opened her laptop, determined to at least log in to TechNet.
The system's last task for her had been to conquer the tech world. Maybe, if she logged on, the system would come back on its
own.
She navigated to the login page, typed in her password, and hit enter.
And then her face went completely white.
A notice flashed across the screen: her account had been permanently banned.
What was happening?
Was the system malfunctioning?

There was no reason for her account to be banned-she hadn't even done anything wrong!

No, this had to be a mistake.
Rebecca restarted her computer and tried again.
But the result was the same.
Her account was truly, irreversibly gone.
In a panic, she opened her messenger app and sent a message to Mason's assistant-the only acquaintance she had left in the
tech world.
The assistant replied almost instantly: [Ms. Morris, you failed to complete a single task at Tech Summit Global, and over ten
thousand users reported you for cheating. The system has determined your previous achievements were
fraudulent, so your account has been permanently banned.]
That was it. As of today, Phoenix_Re no longer existed in the tech community.
How could this be happening?
How dare they erase her like this?
With burning eyes, Rebecca fired off another message to the assistant, but this time, she saw she'd been blocked.
Really? Was everyone just going to kick her while she was down?
"Bastards!" Rebecca screamed, hurling her phone to the floor.
Crack-
The screen shattered into a spiderweb of glass.
Rebecca dropped to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
Since her rebirth, she had never felt so powerless.
Everything she'd worked for had been stolen by Anthea.

Anthea, who in her previous life had been nothing but a pitiful loser beneath her feet.
How had it all come to this?
"System! System, come back!" Rebecca screamed in her mind, desperate.
If only the system returned, she'd find a way to destroy Anthea once and for all.
But no matter how long she called, the system remained silent.

...
An hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of their hotel.
They got out and headed inside together.
In the elevator, watching the floor numbers flicker by, Sherman turned to Anthea. "When are you headed back to Capital City?"
"Probably the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow I need to visit the Kendrick family," Anthea replied.
"I'll drive you over in the morning, then. What time?" Sherman offered.
She answered easily, "Around eight-thirty. I'll head downstairs for breakfast at seven-thirty."
She probably didn't even realize it herself, but she wasn't resisting Sherman at all anymore. She didn't mind his company, or
even that unexpected embrace-and that accidental kiss.
Sherman nodded slightly. "Then let's have breakfast together?"
"Sure."
The next morning at seven-thirty sharp, Sherman was at Anthea's door, knocking.
She answered almost immediately,
5. Didn't expect you to be so
you." was just about to

" foll
Sherman was always on time. "You all set?"
"Almost," Anthea nodded. "Let's head down."
The hotel's breakfast buffet was generous and varied.
After eating, Sherman drove her to the Wright family estate.
It wasn't far, and soon they arrived.
When he pulled up, Sherman asked, “What time should I pick you up?”
"I'll message you when I'm done," Anthea replied.
"Alright." Sherman nodded.
Anthea got out of the car. "I'll head in. Drive safe."
"I will," Sherman said quietly.
Anthea had been to the Wright Manor before, so she was familiar with the place.
She made her way to the manor's grand entrance.
