It was as if the fiery feelings she had for Dan were just an illusion. She was too cold, like she wouldn’t fall for anyone.
On the other end of the call, Dan felt a sharp pain in his chest from anger and spoke through gritted teeth, “Divorce him.”
Sofia let out a cold laugh, filled with mockery.
Dan said, “How could you end up marrying him after fighting like that? Sofia, tell me, are you out of your mind? If you weren’t,
how could you do something so thoughtless?”
The more he spoke, the louder his voice got, as if he wanted to tear Sofia apart.
Sofia smiled, “Yeah, I’m thoughtless, so what? Is that a crime?”
Dan began, “You...”
“Zip it. Yeah, I’m impulsive, but that’s none of your business now. Who do you think you’re lecturing?” she sneered.
There was just dead silence.
“Who are you to lecture me? Check your own status, do you even have the right to do that?”
Dan was speechless.
Sofia added, “And by the way, Richard is my husband now, so you better be polite to him in Fiorenza, or I’ll come af “you.”
Dan took a deep breath and said, “What did you say? For Richard?” He didn’t finish his sentence because he couldn’t believe
what he just heard.
Sofia chuckled, “Give you a tough time for Richard? Of course, if you make trouble for him. Mr. Murry, let me remind you, I’m
someone who clearly knows who’s close to me and who’s not. You better not test my limits.”
The phrase “Mr. Murry” and “clear distinctions” kept ringing in Dan’s head. So, had he become Mr. Murry in her mind? Not
the Dan he used to be?
