Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 689

Justin felt a bit wronged as he said, "Hey, she was the one who started chasing me first."
Chloe suddenly remembered something. It was the first time she had brought Connor to a Moncada family gathering. Connor had gone out of his way
to prepare gifts for everyone, and for Belle, he had given a signed photo of Justin. Belle was a die-hard fan of Justin. Later, Connor even passed on
Justin's number to her. Could that have been when they started talking?
Belle was outgoing, lively, and full of energy. Her love for handsome guys and her bold personality made it no surprise that she'd be the one to make
a move on Justin.
Chloe asked, "So, what do you want me to do for you?"

Justin sighed, "Annie's been ignoring me lately. She won't pick up my calls, won't see me, and she's even blocked my messages."
"Did you guys have a fight?"
"Not at all. Everything was fine just a few days ago, then, out of nowhere, this happened," Justin explained. "I've been stuck on set lately and can't get
away. Since she won't answer my calls, I can't go see her. Chloe, I know you two are close. She always talks about you, says you're like a sister to
her. So, Chloe, could you help me figure out what went wrong?"
Justin looked at her with such a pitiful expression, like a puppy left out in the rain, tears almost brimming in his eyes. Chloe couldn't bear it. "Alright,
alright, don't cry. I'll help you out."
Justin immediately perked up, wiping away his tears and thanking her repeatedly, "Chloe, thank you so much."
Chloe was still a bit taken aback. She planned on telling Connor about this but couldn't find him anywhere when she looked around. Instead, she
caught sight of a familiar figure not too far away. It was Pax.
Pax was also dressed in a white suit today. What really threw Chloe off was that Pax had dyed his signature blond hair black. This new look
transformed him from a sunny, comic-book-like character into a dashing, sophisticated prince charming.
Pax was looking her way too. Next to him was a towering champagne display. He stood there, his handsome face practically a work of art. Chloe
locked eyes with him, but Pax quickly looked away.
Chloe started walking towards him, but Pax turned away, making his avoidance all too clear. He even bumped into the champagne tower, sending a
cascade of crystal glasses crashing down. Champagne splashed everywhere, soaking into the thick carpet and vanishing instantly.

Chloe stopped in her tracks, watching Pax's figure disappear from her sight. He clearly didn't want to see her. Chloe sighed inwardly, remembering
the vibrant, radiant boy who used to be like the midday sun. Sadly, after confronting harsh realities, the Pax she once knew seemed to have faded
away.
Before long, the annual gala kicked off. As usual, Nora and Jason took the stage as hosts. Chloe stood among the crowd, just below the stage. At
some point, Connor had slipped in next to her. After the opening remarks, Jason announced with excitement, "Now, we would like to invite Ms. Claire
from Sartori Corporation to the stage for her speech..."
Jeffery never usually made it to these galas, which only added fuel to the rumors that this year’s gala would reveal the new heir.
